I'm either stupid or clever (Cavern Club content)

Token Limey
I've been asked by the organiser of The International Pop Overthrow Festival if I'd like to perform some of my songs at The Cavern in May of this year

I told him I'd like to

Trouble is, I don't have a band. And doing it solo is not an option

So I've asked a local covers band (a trio, as it happens) if they'd like to be my backing band for this one occasion. They're considering it

I'm getting a bit nervous. Part of me hopes they say no, and I can carry on with my life of comfortable obscurity. But my inner repressed rock star fervently hopes they say yes. I wish I wasn't such a fuck-up :(

I think that is a good option. I had thought of doing something similar before this new thing started coming together with Carol and the bass player.

I hope it works out for you.

I think you're on the clever side of the line - maybe a little out of your comfort zone, but still clever. I hope it works out for you, too!

Well, to lower the stakes on both sides, you'll most likely be able to carry on with your obscurity if you do the show, too :embarrassed:.

If you can supply plane tickets to Liverpool, accommodations, a drum set, a work permit and a per diem, I can play drums for you. :)

I'll never get to see the Cavern Club, let alone play there. You have some great songs, you need to go.
If that band doesn't want to back you, fuck 'em, find another. What band wouldn't want an opportunity to play the Cavern Club?

To be honest with you, I don't think The Cavern is as big a deal here in the UK (sadly) as it is in the US and elsewhere

But if I get invited back in 2016, I'll charter some flights and make sure I have the 'Weinworld All-Stars' backing me

You haven't changed a bit
It's a fucking amazing opportunity to play the Cavern Club, just if it winds up being something to say you did. But the "one big gig that changes your life" usually comes after 100-200 fuckabout gigs that get you nowhere.
