if you were able to sound like someone...

Peeker

jerkass
or rather, let's have a list of folks you envy

guitar-wise, I ain't got much (though I wish I'd bothered to learn fingerpicking), but I really wish I could sing better
and I would kill to have this guy's voice

he says "shit" right off the hop, so maybe NSFW?
that's the only time though

not to sound exactly like him, but to have the ability.

I dunno, I don't think I'm explaining myself very well.

I guess, when you hear a song and go "fuck! I wish I could do that"
that's what I'm after

this dude gives me goosebumps.

To answer your question, Otis Redding.
If I were to play metal, then Barney Greenway from Napalm Death.

Singing voice, maybe Tommy Karevik's:

His sister Jenny has a pretty good voice too, not that I want to sound like her, or anything :embarrassed:

This for guitar. Though Mayer, Hendrix, Strummer and Johnny Ramone mashed up, with some Gilmour thrown in would do it. Maybe add in some Neil Young when I am playing acoustically.

Vocally, mostly this guy.

Stephen Stills. All time favorite singer, songwriter, guitar player.

This is funny... I've been spending the past decade trying to NOT sound like anybody else...but we all know that's just about impossible.

So for me, Satch, Beck, Carlton (his older stuff)....

Other than that, someday I'd like to sound just like "fused"!

I'd like to sound like the version of me that I hear in my head. Which sounds a bit like Blackmore and Fripp having a fight. :embarrassed:

At this point I'd take any sort of singing voice that would be in tune.

With guitar, I'd love to be able to hit the tones of Gilmour and have the energy and -- look I'll say it -- inventiveness of Neil Young.
