Hopefully it's a Happy NGD...and it is!

Ordered a new guitar on Sunday, it arrived yesterday - and the box has a noticeable impact in the body area. Since I ordered from Dave's in Wisconsin, I need to follow protocol and wait 24 hours to open, as their return policy is voided if you don't wait during the winter. It's a semi-hollow in a gig bag, and I am nervous...just under 8 hours to go...

That impact doesn't look too grave to me, I suspect it will be fine. Good luck and HNGD; looking forward to seeing your pics.

And man I hate that 24-hr wait.

Just out of curiosity, how would they know if you waited 24 hours?

Only if I contacted them beforehand, I suppose - the UPS delivery time is included in tracking, so they know when it arrived. I just don't want to take chances, so my plan is to do a time-stamped video of me opening the box, so that I can prove that I did wait the full 24 hours and not have any questions arise.

I'm pulling for you. The only guitar that I ever got that was damaged showed no sign of damage on the box. Good luck!

Here's hoping it's ok.
I ordered an acoustic years ago that arrived looking like someone had stomped on the back of it.

Dammit… you just reminded me of the person that shipped an Orange Rockerverb 50 tube head to me in a slightly oversized box with ZERO padding, stuffing, or anything. I could almost understand if the box had handles on the ends, but no.

I’m sure that every UPS employee that had to handle that unwieldy beast with all 65 pounds sliding around inside was like “Fuuuuuuucccckkkkk Thhhhiiiiiissss….”

That's nothing, I had a guy ship me an hand wired Vox head in a "box" he made with slats of wood and packing tape. It had started to fall apart by the time it got to me. Somehow the amp was totally fine.

Isn't the hole in the box technically the same as it being open? Sorry to contribute to the anxiety.

Here she is! I could no longer stand having only one Vela! I missed my Semi Hollow! So I decided 2 electrics just weren't enough, since there's no way I was selling Daisy, my Solid Vela, nor was I selling Bobbi, my S2 Custom 22. The only option was to go back to 3....

Frost Green Metallic this time, which I freaking love. No name yet - gotta give her a couple days to settle in, get the strings changed, and make sure she's the keeper that I think she is.
