Give me something to watch on Netflix

I don’t know if anyone is watching season three of the Orville but it has gotten really good. If you like Star Trek TNG it really is up your alley. The Seth MacFarlane humor that made season one kind of rough has been toned down a lot, and moving to Hulu meant that he could lose the pressure fox may have put on him to make “family guy in space”. Sure it’s a rip off of the next generation, but it’s a pretty good one.

Finished episode 5 last night. It suuuuuucks! Nothing ever happens, and just when you think it's gonna, it doesn't. I'll finish just to see if anything actually does happen, but I'm not holding out hope.
Also, the acting is Hallmark movie quality.
Well crap. I still haven't gone back to it and probably won't based on that. And you're right, the lady from Bones in the lead role is pretty Hallmarky. Hell they all are. I was letting it slide because it felt like it was gonna ramp up in the next episode or two but apparently not. Damn it.

Arcane is terrific. Gretat drama and characters, and stunning even just to look at.

Really deserved its Emmy win.

I got it on my 'to-watch' list, I love Satanic shit.
I have this in my watch list...i have no idea if it's in english or subtitled or what but it's tagged as SATANIC

and this is in my list too (might try watching tonight) it may or may not be satanic, IDK

That show totally ruins all of the hyperbole of tuners and Street racers. Sort of funny how they talk all of their game and then mostly get their asses handed to them by some Barbie that pushes a Launch Control button.

**SPOILER ALERT!!**

Well, I don't know...it seems to me that many of the tuners do really well. The last season that I watched, only had 2 of 6 (or was it 2 of 7?) in the final were supercars. The 1st season I believe only 1 supercar made it to the final.

For the most part, the people chosen, who drive supercars, are also auto enthusiasts and in many cases are accomplished racers. True that many of the tuners end up busting but that's the risk of backyard tuning and engineering. I do agree that there is too much trash talk though and I wonder if the producers encourage that sort of thing.

I Guess it's been a while since I watched.

Your take on the backyard tuners is pretty accurate though with almost all of them saying things to the effect of "no supercar will beat me" and supercars did win both finals so far even though they were minorities in the championship rounds.

Not on Netflix but the new Alex Garland movie Men is quite a ride. Modern gothic horror with big Hammer and The Shining vibes and some pretty out there Cronenbergian body horror thrown in.

Excellent cinematography and sound design. The plot is, let's say, up to you to decide if you like it.

Not on Netflix but Amazon Prime, I recommend Black Box, kind of horror/scifi/thriller with some fine acting from Mamoudou Athie (Archive 81).

Inventing Anna is much better than my expectations. Especially 6 episodes in. I wasn't sure at first just watching society types that I found shitty.

I've scrolled past that a few times. Might sit down and watch this weekend

Like Clueless and Mean Girls got mixed up with Strangers on a Train. Delightfully scheming and with a pumping soundtrack that mixes circa 2000 bangers like Le Tigre, Fat Boy Slim, and The Cranberries with more modern tracks by Olivia Rodrigo or Pom Pom Squad.

It's great fun.

New Star Wars show, Andor, is out. It starts slow and I’ve only watched episode 1, but it LOOKS right for Star Wars and was darker and more subtle than the usual Star Wars fare.

I started watching Rob Zombie's The Munsters and I had to turn it off less than 15 minutes in. It was the worst shit I've ever seen, and I do watch some total shit. It was unbearably bad.

On a more positive note, I watched My Best Friend's Exorcism and it was good.

Sins of Our Mother. Pretty good show, but holy balls - crazy people.

Blow the Man Down (Amazon) - Engaging, well made, but it just fucking stops in the middle of the plot.

Call me by your Name - Nope. Boring by even romance movie standards.

I am giving up on Rotten Tomatoes as a means to find movies. They have been touting some real turds lately.

I did the same. I really wanted to like it, but I just couldn't find any redeeming bits at all.

I really wanted to like it too. I like the original tv show, and I am open-minded to Rob Zombie movies (I have big love for The Devil's Rejects and I also like Lords of Salem, although I think I'm in the minority there :embarrassed: ).

But it's just unwatchably bad-bad.

Been watching Gotham on Netflix. This show is pretty good. Kind of mixes the gritty and campy aspects of Batman.

Has three things going at once. Young Bruce trying to figure out who killed his parents right after it happens. Gordon doing detective work and trying to stop corruption. And all of the young villains trying to takeover when Carmine Falcone leaves.

Weird thing about the show is that it is some alternate universe where they mix fashion and technology from different time periods. You can't really place where it's all from.

Pennyworth (HBO) is also really good. It has it's own alternate 60s-70s Britain which is pretty fucked up. As if the real thing weren't bad enough.

It's funny that both of these shows have an Alfred (different ages) doing the Michael Caine accent.
