Give me something to watch on Netflix

Also the season 4 premiere of Righteous Gemstones was one of the best of the series. I've been up and down on that show but this makes me hopeful for a good final season.
I loved it.

Apparently Bradley Cooper didn't watch any of the show in advance of playing the part, because he didn't want to be influenced by the existing characterisations. It's kind amazing that his Elijah Gemstone seemed exactly like a Gemstone. I I didn't know that I'd have thought he'd studied the other characters religiously (pardon the pun).

Holy fuck, that latest episode of Yellowjackets 'Thanksgiving (Canada)' is absolutely wild! It's crazy, crazy, deep-end dark.
The ending was a total holy shit moment.
Also, watched Flow (Oscar-winning Latvian animated feature) last weekend. It was amazing!

I don't want to give any spoilers away for anyone reading this who hasn't seen it yet, but it took a 'you have crossed a really bad line. You are not coming back from this' turn. And then the surprise!

I was genuinely shocked.

Adolescence is getting rave reviews over here just now. We binged it all on Friday. It is very good and every hour long episode is a legit single shot take which is cool.

Another wild episode! That expression on Shauna's face!

It’s such a delightful series. I usually hate shows that flashbacks (the less the better) but it juggles it all very well. Lots of thoughtful risk-taking, and no real bloating. I really hope that they wrap things up before dragging it out to seven seasons and a more proverbial plane crash.

Apparently they've planned five seasons for the overall story. This season is almost over, so I'm wondering when the rescue/return to civilization will happen. Next season? My suspicion is that it'll happen in season 4, and season 5 will show what happens when they get back.

I say they get back home just in time to watch the Seinfeld series finale. The horror!

Just started episode 2. It's very good for what it is.

My wife and I just finished the last episode. It was well done.

I knew there was a reason I refused to let my son have an Instagram account. He insisted that all his friends had one at the time. I put it off for a few years. Eventually, I allowed it.

The episode with the Psych ( psychologist was subtly played, but fantastic acting in fine details) was really telling of how unstable the A Tate stuff can make a kid.

And that last episode was soul crushing.

Amazing acting all around. Last episode absolutely destroyed me.

I enjoyed Adolescence as a work of fiction. I was able to empathize with the characters as I tried to imagine what it must be like as a parent going through something similar. Also, it was interesting to get a glimpse of a suburban neighborhood, plus the legal system, in Britain.

In the US, the biggest problem is not young girls being killed by young men. The bigger problem is suicide.

In general, Native Americans, Alaskan Americans and White Americans, have the highest rates of suicide. The suicide rate among men is nearly 4x higher than women. More than 68% of suicides are white males. My son is about to turn 21 this year. He's White/Hispanic. He suffers from depression, and thoughts of suicide. Fortunately, he's not toxic against women (nor anyone else).

I don't think it is narrowly focused on murder or the UK.

I think it is focusing on how the manosphere has groomed a generation of young boys in a lot of western countries (including the US) for the type of behavior seen on the show. Which is not just the murder but a lot of other stuff like kids acting out aggressively, having no empathy, their warped sense the world and masculinity, bullying, etc. In fact, that problem isn't detatched from male depression but what is exacerbating it. Manosphere tends to see depression as personal weakness that you must hide or 'man up'. Having connections with other men is 'gay' so you can't tell them. And telling a woman will lead to her manipulating your 'weakness'. There is also a fatalism like if you have 'feelings' you're not a real man to begin with so you're going to be an incel forever. So obviously this leads either murderous resentment or extreme doomerism/suicide.
