I live in South Philly, near the stadiums. In my usually quiet neighborhood, the sound erupted when the game ended. Fireworks, chants, etc.
I had to gather myself, have a bit of a cry (I've been an Eagles fan since I was born in the year of their last NFL championship in 1960), then changed to outside clothes and joined a very joyous and safe bunch of people on Broad Street at Oregon. Many cops, but they were enjoying it too. A few were smoking victory cigars, and turning a blind eye to the odd can of beer someone like me might be carrying.
I left after about a half-hour to let the kids have their fun - because I needed to sit down and process it some more.
As I was putting out some trash, I opened my back door - I live three blocks from Broad Street. I can still hear them partying.
The Eagles are Super Bowl Champions!
