Do we like Violet Grohl?

By definition, the child is a bastard, not that I actually care. My comment was simply flippant.

Nothing Dave or Violet do in their personal lives is of concern to me. I don’t listen to their music. I won’t buy tickets to their shows. Yet, I have absolutely no problem with them, nor anyone who likes their music.
Outdated. In 2026 we shouldn't be hung up on the child being born within wedlock or not as an excuse to call a mere child a derogatory term. There are other ways to word it, no?

It was a purposely flippant remark. I was being a smartass. Of course, I would not call a child bastard to their face. I don’t know anyone who cares whether a child is born within wedlock or not.

John Lennon hit women. Michael Jackson molested children. Jimmy Page fucked underage groupies. Dave Grohl mistreated drummers and failed to use a condom while cheating on his wife.

Some people may think the art you appreciate must represent the moral high ground. I don’t. I can separate the music from the flawed people who made it.

Keep your posters of the Foo Fighters up on the wall. I won’t make a judgement about it.

All I know is that if Dave’s bastard tries to ascend to the rock throne once Dave dies, it’s gonna cause a war of succession. And it’s the peasants who will suffer as the Lords of AOR plunder the countryside while some tosspot spare heir tries their hand at becoming King of the Dad Rockers.

Which I guess is part for the course given that Dave is a pretender and usurper. Courtney of Aquitaine was right all along.

Agreed. A loving family unit can take many shapes, sizes, and definitions.

See I don't see it as some progressive thing.

I think guys doing this shit to their wife is misogyny plain and simple. And people who claim it doesn't matter are just used to how guys get away with humiliating women. Or maybe want to repair the weird unrealistic image they had of Grohl.

Dave Grohl is kind of a shitty partner per the stories his exes tell. He cheated on his first wife with Louise Post. He cheated on Louise Post with Winona Ryder. He obviously cheated on his current/most recent wife.

I mean, he’s a drummer so we shouldn’t be surprised that he’s at least a little bit of a dirtbag.

It doesn’t matter much to me because he’s not all that great as a star/songwriter/musician in my opinion so it’s pretty easy for me to not concern myself with the fact that he kinda sucks. He played drums on some good records and the first two Foos albums are alright. It’s weird that you guys are stanning him so hard.

I'm not forgiving him because it's not my place to... It's disappointing and up to him and his family on how they want to take care of it.

Recently found out that a musician in my orbit cheated on his wife with one of his musician friend's (now) ex-wife. Pisses me off all the way around and I know I would not do anything like that to my wife or my friends. Not planning on disowning any of the people involved as it's their personal business and there's likely layers that I'm not privy to. You just have to sigh, put it in your knowledge base that this is where these people are at this point in their lives, be extra cautious about what you trust these people do do in your orbit, hope they can be better to themselves and to others going forward so they aren't harmful to others you care about or to themselves. :undecided:

My time in the Army meeting hundreds of people over those 8 years saw more women untrue in their marriage than men. Just saying, goes both ways.

I am going to nail my colours to the mast, consequences be damned. I do not particularly care for that music.

There, I've said it. Let the chips fall where they may.

As Nietzsche said, "whatever occurs out of love always occurs beyond good and evil," which I take to mean that desire can mess up the best of us. I think that's what Chris Isaak meant in "Wicked Game." He clearly read his Nietzsche. Or his Freud.

If he loved that other woman why is he back with his wife again? That doesn't sound very Will to Power of him.

Even Grohl understands he did something harmful, but his fans do not.

I know Nietzsche does use the word "Liebe," but I've always thought he meant more generally "desire" (but definitely directed toward another person, not like "desire for power" -- that's a different sort of thing). I mean, people fuck up their lives over desire/lust/love. They do terrible things to people they love over it.

I'm not defending Grohl. I don't think of him very much to be honest and couldn't name a single Foo Fighters song although I bet I'd recognize one or two if I heard them on the radio. I do like the fact that he was (maybe still is?) the part owner of the Black Cat in DC, where I saw many a band back in the 90s. I'm just saying the reason we're human, all too human is that we fuck up a lot.

That was a cheesy movie that I thoroughly enjoyed. :helper:
I was going to mention how cheesy it was. I enjoyed it too.
I know I don't have to tell you that MilJenko Matijevic of Steel Heart fame did the vocals for the fake Steel Dragon band.

I don't really think anything about her music other than it's not for me.
