Concerts - Favorite of 2016 and Looking Forward To 2017

The band sounded great but it was a general admission sardine-fest. If the fire marshal had walked in I'm sure the whole thing would have been shut down. I couldn't take it—that sort of claustrophobia is misery for me—so we split about halfway through the show.

Bummer. I hate when shows are like that. Fortunately, most of the venues here I go to often so I have scoped out where I can go for a good spot and not be trampled. Being 5'6" is not easy going to a show where everyone is standing.

Ms. Dmn is 5'2". She wasn't enjoying herself either.

Just got the first round of Wolftrap listed...of big interest are:

- Punch Brother (I'm With Her & Julian Lage) 8/2
- Regina Spektor/Ben Fold 7/16
- Tedeschi Trucks (Wood Brothers & Hot Tuna) 7/5
- Elvis Costello and the Imposters 6/22
- Joe Jackson (Mavis Staples) 6/10

Also of interest @Wolftrap: PJ Harvey, John Mellencamp, Natalie Merchant, Lyle Lovett, and possibly others to come. This is all just at the Filene Center, so there may be more coming to the Barns.

Just checked Birchmere's schedule and were we not heading to Ireland (literally in two weeks) I'd be all over these shows:

- Tommy Emmanuel (tues & wed)
- Colin Hay 3/13
- Subdudes 3/25 (just be back from Ireland = broke)
- Sarah Jarosz 4/25
- Robert Cray Band 5/22

Also interested in: the Jayhawks (but no Mark Olson), Heather Nova & Mishka, Stanley Clarke, maybe a few others.

Mark Olson has only done one album with the band since '95 and wasn't on the last one. I saw them last year (or the year before) at the 9:30 club. I think I will have to hit this one too.

Just found out Face to Face will be at the Rock and Roll Hotel in May. I think it is on mother's day. Good thing my wife loves them and wants to go too

Donovan is doing a US tour; so far nothing too close to me. I have been put off by some of his recent performance clips, yet blown away by others. I imagine I'll go if he comes close enough and it isn't totally outrageous prices. He is one of those artists that was a major influence on my life and music.

I saw Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue last night in Santa Fe. Holy crap, those guys kill. Highly, highly recommended.

That's how the Gillian Welch show I went to was. They actually kinda ruined a show I was really looking forward to... I don't think I'll see them again in a non-theater setting.

I had the exact same experience with Gill & Dave at the Cannery in Nashville. I'm too old for that kind of shit anymore.

This was at the Bluebird in Bloomington, IN. They've been touring there since "Hell" so I guess it's a big, sold out show every time. Audience sucked balls.
