Bird Pics & Videos

The solar panel no longer works. The roof is cracked. There is still some battery power left. Birds feeding today.

Our Netvue high-tech bird feeder uses motion sensors and a cam to capture video clips. I grabbed a few still frames from the videos. Apparently, the post design is not entirely squirrel proof.

The feeder has AI technology that attempts to identify the birds from still frames of the video. It’s about 60% accurate.

Do you have a link to the exact model camera you have? I got one for my parents for Christmas but apparently it was some kinda off-brand and it was a piece of shit so we returned it. I want to get them the same setup you have as the quality seems nice, are you happy with it?

Solar Panel

Netvue by Birdify has a lot of different options. Pick the one that best suits you.

IIRC our feeder came with a strap so that it can be attached to a tree. My son mounted it in a tree at first, but raccoons kept raiding it. So, my wife bought a pole with a squirrel baffle. That lasted a few months until a bear knocked it down.

The bear broke the feeder, so I bought my wife another one for Christmas. Then, I repaired the one the bear broke. However, I could not fix the solar panel that the bear destroyed, so I purchased another one.
We have 2 Netvue feeders that need to be mounted.

I plan to install both feeders below a 2nd story window, away from bears and raccoons. However, I’ve become aware that our squirrels can climb up the side of our stucco house. Our security cams catch squirrels climbing up the stucco like it’s nothing. So, I’m trying to figure out how to squirrel proof these feeders, if that’s even possible.

The squirrels don’t need to feed directly from the bird feeder. The magpies knock tons of birdseed to the ground when they rummage for peanuts. That seed on the ground also attracts deer.

I use a fruit and nut birdseed blend which attracts a wide variety of birds. I was surprised to discover the wide variety of other woodland creatures that showed up at the feeder.

Yes, we like it. We’re happy with it.

@jrockbridge well I got one for my folks to replace the shitty one I originally got them for Christmas and they finally got it put up in the back yard. And we've already got a bird!
