Bands that have the most annoying fans

This question came up when I was scrolling through Facebook, in particular music posts where the comment section made me want to pull my hair out.

Who do you think has the most annoying or infuriating fans?

Remember: keep it friendly, it’s only music!

Tool. Rush. The Dead. People who like alt country primarily so they can gripe about modern popular country.

The thing with Tool fans is, that they try yo make you believe Tool’s music is some elite shit that only real music connoisseurs understand. To me, every Tool song I listened is the same tediously long buildup to… nothing.

Worst fans for me are Metallica and Megadeth fans. They argue with each other who is the pinnacle of metal, while both are old dad-rock bands that barely make relevant music these days

I dig Taylor Swift but the Swifty's are pretty insufferable online.

Also middle aged women who fawn over male pop stars. It's pathetic when it's aimed at guys half their age but even if it's a band or singer they've grown up with who are older ( I'm thinking Take That / Robbie Williams / Westlife etc...) it still gives me the boak - a 40-60 year old guy fawning over a female singer that way would be, quite rightly, regarded as a weird creep.

as a dj, you never had knickers and bras thrown at you at a gig?

This is about the most boomer thread I’ve ever seen on the forum….do kids even hold allegiance to any band these days? It’s all short attention span and TikTok sound bites isn’t it?

Zappa, who was already mentioned, is the fandom that I've had the most unpleasant interactions with. I like Zappa, and have met many lovely Zappa fans, but some of the biggest holes I've met wanted to tell me all about him.

Beyond that, I struggle the most to tolerate the two furthest ends of the spectrum--both the "I live everything but country and metal" fence sitters and the jazz/blues/etc purists who are clearly feeling out my level of fandom so that they can one-up me.

I don’t know about other bands but if you tweet something bad about a Taylor Swift song her fans will hunt you down and skin you alive.
