Mojo Request At the Movies with Smurfco: ELVIS

Just got back from seeing this absolute piece of shit. The kid playing Elvis did a pretty good job, but it wasn’t enough to overcome incoherent direction and ridiculous dialogue.

But my biggest gripe? They didn’t even show him dying on the toilet. Two hours and 40 minutes and they didn’t even show him dying on the fucking toilet. What a rip off!

Did they have fried peanut butter and banana sandwiches? Or a blitzed-out meeting with Nixon about being deputized as a narcotics officer? If not, Walk Hard is still my favorite Elvis movie.

The Twilight Zone did a interesting Elvis story when the show rebooted in 186/87.
A modern day Elvis impersonator somehow goes back in time and takes Elvis's place

I am not a fan of docudramas. I remember seeing Your Cheating Heart way back in 1964 when the local theater paired it with A Hard Day's Night. In my mind, the genre hasn't improved over the years.

I thought Walk the Line was pretty good as music bio pics go.
Cant say much about any thats come out since then. I've missed the Queen and the Elton ones.

I saw the trailer for this and I was done.
Like the Incubus song, dude's no fucking Elvis.

Val Kilmer, there was an Elvis. He was a Jim Morrison too.

Mrs DCF is going to see Elvis with her sister on Wednesday.
They’re seeing the UltraAVX/Atmos version. So, the sensory overload will be that much more overload. :P

I will see it at some point, but not likely in a theatre.
My sticky seat outfit doesn’t fit anymore.

Okay, are you guys saying a Baz Luhrmann docudrama about Elvis might be a bit campy and stylized and play fast and loose with historical accuracy and/or reverence for source material?!? This seems quite unexpected given Mr. Luhrmann’s track record as a filmmaker.
