Apparently size doesn't matter...you'd think the smaller the size but no....

Dogue in teh desert
Mosquitos....we have teeny tiny ones here, like gnats...no see ums but those motherfuckers are vicious. i was sitting around the other day and they just feasted on my ankles until i sprayed myself with Buzz Away, even then I had to put a pair of socks on and pull them up as high as they'd go. I even considered putting long pants and a long sleeve shirt on.

yea, we have the gnat variety here too. and they are swarming mutherfuckers.
and the metroparks refuse to spray even the main paved trails....."it's bad for the bio-system".
fuck you. metroparks are for people, hence the name PARK!!!!
fuck the mosquitos, disease carrying mutherfuckers!!!!!

i have to stop going to the parks from june until late october because of them. unless you have a full net suit on, you are toast.

Regardless of size, these fuckers can ruin a good night's sleep going wheeeee wheeee right next to your ear every time you turn out the light. Turn it back on and it's gone somehow.

Yeah... every time we are in Florida... those tiny little fuckers they refer to as "Noseeums" (har-dee-har-har...) but you feel the bite, and unlike midwest mosquito bites that turn red and itch, noseeums usually blister and weep clear goop... :barf:

I'm glad we don't have those in this part of Colorado. Not a whole lot of mosquitos period usually.

Might get a couple and run them near my build site.
The citronella all natural BUzz Away brand they sell at the health food stores is super effective. If I’m wearing it they don’t mess with me. I happen to like the scent but apparently skeeters don’t

I've been told they are super effective, providing you stay in the range of coverage. I'm going to get one for our patio next time I stop in.
My brother and I clip them onto our belt when we go hunting and I can attest that they absolutely work.

Weirdly - I have seen hardly any skeeters here in WI this year. If that’s because of climate change - silver lining…

My uncle thought I was lying about the size of mosquitos while driving through Wisconsin. I was visiting relatives in the Chicago suburbs. We did a week long cabin trip in WI and were heading back to the burbs. It really is a beautiful state. So many lakes, hills and trees. I had never eaten wild berries before. And yeah, the mosquitos were out.

I grew up in Wisconsin (next to a large marsh; no shortage of skeeters), but I think I gotta give the nod to Alaska for all you mosquito size queens/kings. They're not called the state bird for nothing.

I think the most unpleasant mosquito experience I've had was on a (non-crane fly related) research camping trip in eastern Washington. They weren't the biggest, but they were the most persistent, and acted like they hadn't eaten in weeks. We ended up eating meals while basically jogging, because the only way you could get any respite was by constantly being on the move.

I've heard the skeeters in Maine are pretty fucking nuts
