AccuWeather forecasters are predicting a high of 113 on Sunday at Portland International Airport, which would demolish the city's all-time record high of 107 set on multiple dates in July and August, reached most recently during the summer of 1981. Forecasters say the mercury will hit 110 in downtown Portland.

Meanwhile In Tucson we had rain yesterday and rain ncoming next week *spits*

Most older houses here do not have AC. Our place was built in the early 30s and still has shitty single pane windows.

Window and free standing units have pretty much sold out across the city.

We've got two window and a free standing unit so we're fine with the blinds shut when it gets over the mid 90s. I do a daily process of shutting the south facing windows and doors around 11am and the west side of the house around 2pm. Fire up the ac shortly after and the place stays plenty comfortable.

Had to swing by safeway for something this afternoon and they had the ac cranking. I know where I'll go if our ac goes on the fritz.

Biggest concern is when the next big forest fire is going to happen. Conditions are prime for a big bad season with more than average fuel on the forest floor at this time of year.

I feel you with the single pane windows, that's what i have (1949 home).:panic:...on the fritz.....that is my name fwiw(seriously) :thu:

Yow....dang hot for the PNW. We are getting a nice break from the heat this weekend, plus we had some much needed light rain last night. Hopefully enough to stave off any wildfires for a week or so.

feels like the pacific NW here in michigan. its cold and rainy everyday. i actually like it, good change of pace.

Fucking 90 plus degrees and while I'm in the midst of cleaning up from changing my oil, my senile ex-neighbor shows up again having wandered off from the facility she's currently living in.... unbelievably they've let her wander off twice this week now and we're at least 6 miles from there.

Ours up here is a newer home but no AC. We did what we could in getting fans etc but it's going to be uncomfortable for the next couple of days. Already it's 95 outside and the real heat isn't supposed to be until tomorrow  Inside it's 80 and will probably get a few more degrees before it starts to cool off. I went through this back in the early 2000 in Cali before we got AC there. With these prolonged heatwaves every day is a bit hotter in the house. The one in Cali we topped out at 92 inside temperature. Hopefully we don't get that hot.

My average temp inside from June till early october is usually 82 I guess. Sometimes it'll get to as low as 75 in the early morning hours but generally by July I won't see it go below 78 un til sometime in October. When we had out 110 plus heatwave a couple weeks ago it was pretty much 90 every night I went to bed and maybe by 2 in the morning it would drop to 84....I know this because i would wake up with the bedsheets damp (even with a cieling fan and two floor fans going) and It wasn't cus i pissed the bed :embarrassed:

Ouch! I anticipate there are going to be a lot of deaths attributable to this. Next time it snows somewhere and a politician says "see, there's no global warming" I hope someone punches him/her right in the mouth.

I've got a bunch of photocopied pages out to learn a song here in GR, and they feel like used tissues every time I turn the page.

Really humid over here too.

Had a tornado scare yesterday. no damage here thankfully but they were sighted close. Looks like rain again today. I guess we didnt get much rain in the spring so this must be our rainy season just late.
