4ms Tremulus Lune Tremolo DIY

This review is for the 4ms Tremulus Lune tremolo DIY pedal.  Arguably one of the best trems out there, many folks have not heard of it.  The lune is true bypass.  It is very versatile with complete control over any aspect of the effect including the variable spacing between the on and off times.  The lune also has 2 speed controls, one coarse for getting you in the ballpark and a fine speed control to slightly tweak the rate to exactly the speed that you might need.  The indicator LED blinks at the set rate of trem.  A blend knob is also a very nice touch in which the dry and wet signals can be blended to taste.  The square wave to sine wave provides complete control over the sound giving machine gun chops to a sweet vintage tremolo sound.  Last, but not least, there is a gain knob so that the pedal, volume wise, can be set to taste.  One of the main complaints against factory trems is that when engaged, the effect is too quiet or too loud.  I prefer that the pedal boost the sound a little as tremolo can get lost in the mix at anything other than the highest point in the sweep.  In kit version, it is considered an intermediate level build.  The pedal turns itself on and off by plugging in the input cable as in a normal pedal.  The only thing that I would change would be the 1M bleed resistor to something like 100K.  Highly recommended AOK AOK

I scratch built mine from some of the diagrams available on the web, but a kit from 4ms is available for $94.  I have somewhere around $30 in mine.  Here is a quickie demo of the pedal.

That is extremely cool!!!!!

One day i'd like to try tackling building a pedal, it looks very interesting.

Not as cool as the frying pan but I did pick up one of these for xmas and got it together.

If I had to do it all over again... I would have put it together first, then took it apart and painted it. I pretty much destroyed the paint job putting it together. All said, it sounds very good and I am totally happy with it... Thanks for the heads up Tele..

You did a great job putting it together. Nice job on the solder joints. I was wondering how this was coming along. Now you can say you've got the best trem on the planet AOK

NOT... He was around tho... He had sharpie duty and had to write the control descriptions :)

We did hook it up to the oscilloscope and watched how the different knobs effected the wave which was pretty cool.

Ronk - I like the paint job very much - the dings in it makes it look not new and very vintage. I likes it love0
