2025 Concert Thread

Wolf Trap dropped their first/biggest round of summer shows, highlights for me include:
- two Avetts shows
- two Paul Simon shows
- Taj Mahal and Keb Mo (together)
- Ringo (All Starr Band)
- The Roots
- Dispatch mini fest (great lineup)
- Iron & Wine/I'm With Her (co-headline)
- BNL
- Lyle Lovett
- Ziggy Marley/Burning Spear (co-headline)

Of potential interest:
- Jacob Collier...still not sure how I feel about him. Excellent musician, but the timbre of his voice doesn't hit my ears well...
- Alison Krauss & Union Station...they'd prolly be a lock if Dan were still in the band, his voice is stellar.

Still a bunch of dates open, wondering what other delights the season might bring to Wolf Trap...
Damn.

I GOT TICKETS TO THE FINAL SABBATH SHOW!!! I had to spend a lot to get the seats with a hotel package. But I’d have to get the hotel anyway so whatever. I’m taking my kid, this shit will blow his 13 year old mind.

I just realized that the first time I saw Sabbath Pantera were an opener, and the second time I saw Sabbath Pantera were an opener. So it’s fitting that Pantera will be there for the very last time I see Sabbath.

I was sooooo worried that the Sabbath tickets I got would be taken away because they weren’t supposed to be on sale to the public. But today I got the email telling me that I got the tickets and the hotel reservation. I took the boy out for coffee and told him all about it; he’s pumped. The down side is that it’s made me hypomanic and I can’t get any work done. I might have to get my doctor to shoot me up with seroquel to function normally between now and July 5.

It didn’t occur to me that the tickets from Denver to Birmingham would cost twice what the tickets did. But fuck it, I’M COMING, OZZY!!!

Two shows in the future so far:
Bob Dylan in Williamsport, PA, in March. Anyway, I think it's March.
Patti Smith in Philadelphia in November.

Just when I was thinking that 2025 might be my first concert-free year since 1976 - I found out that PHISH summer tour is coming to Austin!

It's not a done deal yet, there is some kind of lottery system. But my name is in the hat for both shows and I feel lucky. :rainfro:

Phish are doing three days in Boulder. They overlap with me traveling to and from England for Sabbath. Maybe next year.

Qapla'! Scored tix for both Phish shows in Austin in June.

Have only seen Phish once, 27 years ago. (Have seen Trey solo several times tho).

Tomorrow is my pre-sale date for Wolf Trap, hoping the shows I want have some decent seats left...which they should. Already wishing I could do more concerts all of the time, we've been making up for many lost years in the last seven years.

Schedule is:

April 11 Snow Patrol at the Anthem
May 24 DMB in Bethel, NY
May 30 & 31 Avetts at Wolf Trap
June 17 Ringo at Wolf Trap
Sept 16 Hozier at JLL

Not sure how much more we'll do if any...trying to tighten our belts this year.

They built a new amphitheater just south of us. I regret not getting tickets to Alison Krauss and Robert Plant when they played there last year.

I wanted to take my son to a show at the new venue this year. He picked Styx on June 29th. I’ve seen them twice but it’s been awhile. He’s a big fan of the classic rock genre, including Styx. We got 5th row center seats for a fair price.

How was Mr. Cray?

He's been on my must see list for decades, but he either doesn't swing our way or the stars don't align when he does. Just a killer guitarist and singer...and his music grooves in the best way(s).
