Question: Achtung! MWGL Brats: are you familiar with the band that is called Type O Negative?

Motorik

Kick Henry Jackassowski
So I was listening to 'Chains of Love' by Charli XCX with my daughter and she made the observation "this sounds like a Type O Negative song. Imagine Peter Steele singing it". It hadn't occurred to me, but I think she's absolutely right. What do you reckon?

Yeah. I can definitely hear it. Less guitarsy, obviously—but same general gothic melodrama vibe and a similar melodic sensibility. Type O was super popular amongst suburban Chicago music dorks back in alt-nation/Q101 times for some reason to the extent that I always figured they were somewhat local.

I can imagine that they could be mistaken for Chicagoans, whereas Sublime or something certainly would not.

It definitely would have fit on Dead Again. You should ask Denis Pauna to do a cover in the style of.

So I'd be more likely to listen to Charli XCX than Type O Negative... so I had to look them up on Ye'ol'Tube.... but yeah, I can definitely hear it.
