Please be telling me the absolute truth for you: which pickup do you usually select as your "happy place" if you had to pick one...

You are BRIDGE PICKUP GUY or NECK PICKUP GUY? (or girl)

Obviously different songs call for different tones, especially when switching from rhythm to lead. But you know what I'm talking about - are you a NECK PICKUP GUY or a BRIDGE PICKUP GUY??? (or girl)

No, there is no "I use both" or "it depends" option in the poll - DEAL WITH IT! You have to choose one, and I think you know already what you would choose, just go with your instinct! For example we all know @Chad is a BRIDGE PICKUP guy.

Me? I am a neck pickup guy. I will flip to the bridge for the occasional solo but I would say I spend about 80% of my time on the neck pickup by itself, maybe 10% with both pickups on, and 10% bridge pickup alone.

VOTE!

I am not trying to be a smart ass, but truly, middle position with 4 knob control, P90's is my happy place. Or my tele with P90 neck and fat sounding tele bridge, again, middle stacked. I want the fatness and warmth of the neck with a bit of bark and bite from the bridge. But I am just a home guy.

Bridge. I'm not ever sure my neck pickup works anymore. Of course, I'm mostly acoustic so electric guitar is basically a special effect for me

It depends on the guitar. If I'm playing an SSS Strat, you hold a gun to my head and tell me to pick one position, it's neck. If I'm playing an HH LP in the same type of scenario, I'll pick bridge.

If I had to pick one, which it appears I do, I'd go with the bridge pickup. I need a fairly bright, twangy, jangly sound for the stuff I do.

My default is the middle position (on 2-pickup guitars). I like the bit of hollowness you get there.

Of the two "one or the other" positions, neck. That's what I voted. I like all the juicy overtones you get there. The bridge position is for specific things that demand bridge position. Like anything traversing troubled water. Or when you just gotta twang.

I voted neck pickup, but I have to caveat the exception if when I play my Tele.

if i'm limited to the OP choices, then clearly front pickup.
but being 98% a strat player, i mostly am on the front/middle position (position 4 on the switch).
