Todd Snyder - Beer Run

I was at the show that the song is about. KPIG fm put on an outdoor show at Santa Cruz County Fair Grounds. Robert Earl Keen, James McMurtry, Joe Ely and Todd Snider plus some others. Started out foggy, but then the sun came out and all the beer in the concession booths was gone by noon. Promoters scrambled, buying up all the kegs from area liquor stores and local clubs. The lines were horrendous, but finally all thirsts were quenched. Todd wrote it during REK's set.

I believe "Cracklin Rosie" was inspired Neil Diamond's love of hardcore, barely legal pornography.

Edit: great minds...

Actually I'm a little confused about the concept of writing a tune for the 'tunes' sake...

Back in the day tunes were written for sentimental reasons....

Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds was written about a kids drawing.

This is more of an album origin story, but the Roger Waters "spitting incident" in Montreal that was the catalyst for The Wall always fascinates me.
