Yeah I never saw him Play at ND but my dad told me he played there (dad is a big college football guy) I imagine it helps with his pitching as he's probably more athletic than most pitchers so i'm sure things like endurance and what not can really help him as a pitcher. I only remember him pitching as a Chicago Cub and he's one of those guys that stood out so I remember him, might've been his hair and height that made him memorable (because i didn't watch the Cubs much then other than a random game or when the Giants played them but in my memory Samardjza always was pitching into like the 6th or 7th inning every time I saw him and he seemed to be an accurate pitcher putting the ball where he wanted. From the pre season games I've watched of him this year he looks sharp and in control.

I'm not sure if in your post you are in Philly and an A's fan or vice versa but you can now get a single team MLB subscription for around 85 bucks and then you can watch whenever you want. It seems weird at first but I watch daytime Giants games all the time on replay in the evening since i work during the day, as long as you don't know the score it's still exciting.
 
one of my co-workers is at the Indians opener. he must have on a parka and long johns, it only got to 33° here on the west coast of lake erie :eek:
i can't imagine it's any warmer over in cleveland.

well.....apparently my co-worker didn't see anything. the game was cancelled due to snow and ice on the field.
damn it i need to move south.

The Rockies have already been mathematically eliminated. This will be another at or near 90 loss season. Walt Weiss is a great person and was a gritty player, but he is clueless as a manager. When your rebuilding program keeps churning out 90+ loss teams and nothing changes then mediocre is what you expect. And the Rockies deliver mediocre at an all star level. Having the 3rd or 4th best farm system in baseball does you no good if you have no plan on the big league level.

Oh - and they already lost one of their top relievers most likely for the season and one of their top starting pitchers is starting the season on the DL. No facepalm big enough....
 
Hope to catch some games live this year. Probably minor league, but maybe one at Safeco if it works out. And I go on record now as being a Cubs fan for my non home of origin team (Will hold out hope for the M's regardless of the silliness of doing so), so I can say I am not Cub bandwagon later this year if it works out for them.

Most often, other than being in downtown Seattle in the Sodo district with all the stadiums and action, I most enjoy watching a game in Tacoma at the Mariners triple A club, the Tacoma Rainiers. http://www.milb.com/index.jsp?sid=t529

I have said this before, but my Dad's work used to have seats right behind 3rd base back in the day. It was fun to go watch, as long as you kept an eye out for line drive fouls to the left. I still love to go there and just sit even in the cheap seats. The place is small so there is really no bad seat from which to enjoy a game. Safeco field is really nice, and has a great view. But you can feel pretty far removed from the game in such a big stadium.

yea....we have the Toledo Mudhens......and the stadium is 95% of an MLB stadium.....all they'd need to do is move the outfield wall out 20 or 30 feet and add the upper deck seats.....it's a FANTASIC stadium. tickets range from $8 to $15. and my boss has season tickets to the 'club seats'. his seats are directly behind home plate, two rows up from the beginning of the second level. you pretty much have a birdseye view of what the batter/catcher are seeing. everything can be seen with having to hardly move your head. and the concessions are a flight of stairs up behind us.

I'm close to Philly and an A's fan. And a Phils fan. I'd buy more fuzz pedals before I pay to watch baseball on TV.
 
The Yankees were rained out today. My season starts tomorrow.

Has anyone here subscribed to MLB TV? I am thinking about it. $110.00 is not bad for every out of market game,

It pisses me off though - why not schedule the opening week games in the cities where it is probably not going to be cold/rainy/snowing?

And the more this happens, the more the insufferable "baseball purists" sneer at our covered stadium.

You can see where Dad's firm's seats were right there behind third.
