It does sound like it could be a bad cable. But, you said you swapped cables, so I assumed you already did that trouble shooting. Did you try a different guitar? Maybe, call your local priest and request an exorcism.

Weird. If the SLO were a tube amp, I’d think maybe swapping out preamp tubes could help. But, that does not even sound like the type of noise I’ve heard from bad tubes. I’m wondering if spraying Deoxit on the potentiometers could help. Seems like it may be worth a try.
