Can we clarify the "Professional" thing here?

Other than Mark,Tom Strahle, and Gibby, I don't think there's many of us who get 100% of our income from playing music.

I'm interested in knowing how many of our members are in regularly gigging bands who get paid to play. I put "part time" because while I have multiple gigs per month, usually only 1 or 2 are band related... the others are DJing.

Favorite Guitar: Music Man Albert Lee
Favorite Amp: Zinky Blue Velvet
Favorite Pedal: Usually none. Sometimes a little delay or tremolo.
Favorite Pickups: Tele bridge single coil
Favorite Tone: Bridge single coils or P90 through overdriven amp, EL84s
Favorite Player: Duane Denison
Favorite Genre: Darker, more atonal rock
Your Actual Tone: Bridge single coils or P90 through overdriven amp, EL84s
Your Actual Influence: Whatever riffs I've patched together over the years.
Your Actual Genre: Rock, maybe a little country
Professional (Y/N): N

Favorite Guitar: Of my personal guitars? my MIM 60th Ann. Strat
Favorite Amp: Personally owned? Both, for different reasons. 1961 Fender Concert, Peavey C-30. All time? probably a Fender Tweed or maybe a blonde.
Favorite Pedal: Hmm. Probably my Duvhoodooman made Rodent, which is a Rat Clone with a lot of variation, along with some OD settings. I can do a lot with that thing.
Favorite Pickups: Too hard. I end up mostly playing neck pickups mostly since I am at home mostly now, so I will say neck single coils. Still seeking my absolute favorite.
Favorite Tone: I have two favorites. Bluesy overdriven on the neck, and indy organic and raw distorted on the bridge with maybe some neck pickup blended in.
Favorite Player: Depends on the day and my mood.
Favorite Genre: Good music. Ok, all right. I'll say garagey sounding alternative.
Your Actual Tone: See above
Your Actual Influence: Too many. Neil Young (first guy I tried to copy when i started on an acoustic), various blues players, various alternative, garage, grunge, punk players, etc.
Your Actual Genre: Like I said, above, garagey alternative probably throws a big enough net, plus blues and jazz, or at least jazz influenced blues.
Professional (Y/N): Like someone else said, HaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHa!

Psychotronic has a "real" job but he plays better gigs than I do.

I'd add Andy to that list. I put that I'm trying to be, which just sounds better than "no" to me. :embarrassed:

Exactly. I didn't mean to leave anyone out... it's more to the point that there are varying shades of "Pro". Your band plays some pretty cool gigs. :baimun:

And Gibby's band just went on hiatus per their FB post today.

Our band only plays probably two gigs a month - and some months only 1. Though we do have three (for sure) or four summer festivals we are playing this year. Those are a blast to play.

I don't think you have to make all of your income from music to be at least some sort of pro. For me it's exactly like sports. If someone is willing to pay you to play, then you are a pro. Good pro or not so good? Well that depends on whether or not you continue to make the draft list.

Oh, I know you didn't. Just adding a name to the list is all.

Yeah we do, and it's my (our) hope to use the momentum we've picked up from these gigs to change that answer to a yes.

Ooooooooooooooh.....
