Achtung! Walt Dexter presents: The Mother of all Covers.

I just got to listen to the whole thing. That was amazing, and an incredible amount of material. It must have taken a long time. Great guitar solo too.
 
Listened on the way to work this morning. Great job guys. There's a lot of stuff going on in that one, and you guys absolutely nailed it. :rawk:
 
I haven't even listened yet, but now the song is stuck in my head... Which is a good thing, since Iron Maiden is one of my favorites...

Always dreamed of someday doing this tune, and thankfully we pulled it off. As usual Mike was his killer self for this one. :wink:

Mentioned this in the thread over at GJ, we were quite truthful to the original with the guitar parts - I did Dave Murray's parts and Mike Adrian Smith's.
One thing I love is how both Mike and myself didn't copy the solos note for note, but injected a bit of our own stuff there.

Ohh...Mike's scream had me go "HOLY FUCK!!!" the first time I heard it. :grin:

As for gear involved on my guitars, not much. :grin:

Gibby MIII superstrat -> Guitar Rig 4 for the rhythm tracks.
The lead was done with my proper Strat (Kinman Woodstock+ pups for those interested) through the ENGL amp with a fuckload of gain on it. \m/
 
I'm not sure, but I think I used the Blacktop Strat for this. Either that or the HS Tele. Either way, I used the POD for the "amp."
It was a LOT of fun to sing, especially the scream.

I WILL do that sometime Dave. If it takes me years I will do it.

Fwiw Iron Maiden is by far the 80s metal band closest related to prog, you could say this song we did is the first big prog metal epic - no surprise that the guys in Dream Theater as an example are big fans of Maiden, as well as Rush, Yes, Marillion and Pink Floyd. Oh, and like myself, Steve Harris hates punk. :grin:

I'm sure I could with enough practice, but I'd be more than happy to just sing it and let you do the guitar.
