"Share your recordings in a non-judgmental environment-fest" - THE REVEAL!!!

I'm awake finally! Looks like the partys started already...I've heard most of them but I'll write some comments this afternoon when I've had a chance to listen to each one in a little more quieter atmosphere without kids running around and screaming to the songs

Stinky- Beautiful sounding acoustic. Was wondering how you recorded it- was it an acoustic/electric, or did you use a microphone? Really liked the melody, and the parts went together just right. This was another one that I would have enjoyed hearing for a while longer.

Tyoc- cool and different, would have like to have heard you develop it a bit more, and agree it was too short. Liked the ideas, though.

Baron- Really liked the playing, especially that main riff. Vocals also reminded me of Neil Young a little, but not too much. Still sounded very original.

Ferdinand- Awesome playing, obviously. Tone was massive, but personally I thought just a bit smoother distortion would have complemented the great playing just a bit better.

Not really a criticism though, your tone is your tone, and you played it very well. I have worked on that just enough to know how hard it is to play, and gave up before I got very far into it, playing at that pace is just beyond my abilities.

Impressive!

Chihli- you rock! Killer tones. Did you do the drums yourself? The panning thing with the cymbals was cool. The end seemed to me like it might make a great lead-in to something else.

Really like what I've heard of your playing so far. Sounded good all around!

jayhitz - it says first effort. If so, great job. I am so weak at playing solo like that. Good job.

stinkymamasboy - I liked that a lot. Very expressive playing.

Thanks man. The drums are a program a member here hooked me up with, but I programmed them myself. Took forever, didnt know what I was doing, etc. Just sorta stumbled onto what I ended up with.

tyoc - definitely short but definitely sweet. I like the guitar tone.

Baron - Way funky. I like this one a lot. I would love to be able to create someting like that.

Ferdinandstrat - that just reminded me that I have no speed at all. Good job.

C-dog - that was HUGE. I like the groove a lot. I dont know about video games but that is the beginnings of a cool song.

Tele - my favorite of the bunch. I think everyone did a great job but this music is right up my alley. That swampy southern thing is what I grea up listening to. Scorching lead playing. Loved the tone all around. What guitar/amp are you using? When I say I am looking for an amp, it should be able to do something in that range (player not so much).

This was fantastic. Great job by everyone. All of you guys who said you sucked can no longer say that. No suckage whatsoever. I am already trying to decide what to play next. I have to learn it first so it cant be too hard.

Thanks again Mark.

Thanks! It was my first try at recording myself, and at using the recording software (Reaper). Wish I could have spent a little more time on it, but it came out OK, if pretty rough sounding. Looking forward to being able to spend more time on the next one, and continue learning more about the recording part.

Telecaster- Very pro sounding! Never heard that tune, but I like it, and you did a great job with it. Everything about it sounded good to me.

Made it through them all, and I agree with Johnny, I enjoyed them all. Hope everyone participates in the next one, I know I will. Might be some time before I am brave enough to move out of the "non-judgmental" category, but am hoping each one will get a little better. Am glad I got started on this, am really liking it.

I dont actually mind being judged. I have pretty thick skin and I really want to get better. The funny thing is, posting something on the old www is so far outside of my personality it isnt funny. My wife still just shakes her head. She cant believe I am letting other people hear my stuff.

This kind of thing will help the improvement process so much. We all spent a lot of time trying to make these things good. Pushing ourselves so to speak.

I can relate to this a whole bunch. I never thought ANYONE would hear me play, other than the GF.

But the challenge has been very good for me.

I posted another - tune in Soundclick - Problem is I don't know how to go back to that mess of web site to post it back in here. I'm sorry - that site is a carnival of chaos.

I think you'll find getting outside feedback will help you a ton.

The good feedback gives you confidence and makes you feel good about your playing.

The negative feedback sometimes points out something in your playing or recording that you'd never noticed before and pushes you to improve.

I know that listening to stuff I recorded 5 or 6 years ago that I though sounded great back then, kind of sounds 'meh' now. Most of my improvement in that time is a direct result of feedback I've gotten and techniques I've learned online.

Wow. That's all I've got to say for all of these! Thanks for the comments on mine, and anybody who wants to use it for whatever, feel free. Just lemme know when you're finished!

Punchy - Not a bad job, although your timing was a little loose and I couldn't even hear the vocals. . . :embarrassed:

phil513 - That is some great clean tone right there. Nice progression, too.

cfgsteak - 'zat your Tele? 'Course it is, it's a Brad Paisley song! Intro sounds like Johnny Cash, though biggrin I liked your chords and fills, I wish I could play country stuff.

Johnny N. - Killed it. That is all.

Aahzz - I like the jangly, and the drums. . . the song feels a bit like Sympathy for the Devil. Me likey.

Ronk - Great mixing, great tones all around.

Suhnton - LOVE the sound. Production sounded perfect to me.

Hobo Uncle Sam - Sounded good, man. I like the way it *just* breaks up when you push it.

jayhitz - Very nice lead work. . . some good tones there, too :)

Stinkymommasboy - Lovely sounding acoustic work!

Tyoc - Mesmerizing. . .but too short

Baron85 - Love the train-like rhythm of the hats, and your guitar tone rocks. Nice groove.

Ferdinandstrat - Speed can kill, bro!

Chihlidog - Once again, well done with the metalz, man. Definitely like the way it builds, and your playing is impeccable :thu:

telecaster911 - Cheater  But seriously, great work man. Writing, tracking, mixing, sounds good!

12pack - Nice tone man, and your playing is tight!
