Your favorite song by . . .(Thursday Edition)

so many great songs. but i'm gonna hafta go with "the needle and the damage done". written about Hendrix, played as a Cobain tribute. excellent guitar work that's a blast to teach.

Wow, Howie likes someone!!!

I also must got with "The Needle and the Damage Done".

I like alot of his solo stuff but the first song that pops in my head when I hear his name is OHIO, I really love that song. Solo stuff I'm gonna go with the needle and the damage done also.

All good stuff, but I'd choose "Harvest Moon", personally. Simply one of the most beautiful acoustic guitar songs ever.

Another bad singer/great songwriter guy!

I was initially thinking 'Heart Of Gold' - but that is too Dylan....

I'll go with 'Rockin' In The Free World'....

Neil is kind of weird for me. I was going to reply about how I never really got into him, but then I got to thinking about all the great songs he's written. I just don't particularly care for hearing him do them. :embarrassed:

I'll go with Cortez the Killer.

Definitely not for everyone, but for me, that song will always belong to Cassandra Wilson:

Hey Hey, My My.

That distorted guitar sounds like the amp is about to explode.

That's how I describe most of my favorite guitar tones and my wife usally laughs at me. Queen, the black keys, the white stripes, and Neil Young (plenty of others also) all have that sound like if that amp is turned up even a little bit more it's all going to end in a bloody mess and I love it.

Neil and Brian May have both set amps on fire before. Jack White plays through Twin Reverbs, so most of his distortion comes from pedals. i dunno about the others.
