Your fav decade for music was...?

90's. Including 1989.
Second choice, late 70's into mid-80's.
The mid to late 80's, I was not connected to the music scenes well enough to know about the really good stuff, and radio had gone to shit mostly.

If we’re talking rock-aligned pop music, the 60s are clearly THE golden age. Shocking novelty and variety. Worlds upon worlds of possibilities. Some of the best pop songwriters of the late 20th century hitting their strides. Motown. Dylan. The British Invasion. Girl Groups. “Jumping Jack Flash.”

Flat out SONGS.

And of course this is true.

Yeah I have to go with the 60s because that's when so much of it got going. It was a magical time for music. :hippie:

Although if you pick an individual band like Stones, Dead, lots of others, I tend to listen to their 70s output more than their 60s output. But then again...if you factor in that the "60s" kind of didn't end until the early 70s which is sort of the case... crap now I need a doobie.

Probably 60's overall, just because of the British Invasion. Although in the past year or so I've been listening to more 70's stuff than anything.

i would say mostly the 70's for me. it's when i was developing my playing. Jr. High thru enlistment of the USAF.
and from 1969 thru 1979 an heck of a lot of good music came out.
i would sit on the couch and watch Don Kirshner's/Midnight Special/Soul Train and jam along.
wish we had those shows back.

Im with Gary on this 65 thru 75

Miles Smiles
Who's Next
Highway 61 revisited
Coltrane's output
Birds of Fire
Are You Experienced?
Woodstock
Beatles
Stones
Jobim

Too much to list really

1969. That is when I was born. When I slipped out of my Momma her birth canal slapped shut in the key of Eb.

Seriously - Coolest Decade? Not sure. IMHO anything from 2000 to now - the last 18 years all sounds the same.

From the 30's to the 90's every decade was so different.

30's - Jazz
40's - Vocal Harmonies were the rage
50's -Birth of Rock and Roll
60's - Political songs and growing so much outside the 4 chord progressions
70's - Heavy rock. Pretty music and ugly musicians
80's - Where did the guitar go? Keyboard guitars.... ughh
90's - Bring the guitars back
2000's - Pop - Ugly music and pretty musicians.
