Which band did the most cocaine back in the 70’s

Black Sabbath. When they were recording Volume 4 they were having a dealer smuggle in cereal boxes of coke. And Tony had a connection with a doctor and pharmacist who prescribed huge amounts of medical cocaine (this was still legal back then). There was a safe next to his bed full of the stuff so he could wake up and snort lines of pure coke.
 
Crosby, Still, Nash, and Young might be up there in the running as well. All four of them were known to do a lot of coke at one time. Neil Young had to wait for the others to come down so they could play on his songs...

but the eagles and Mac had more money so either more coke or better coke no ?
 
i've always heard is was the eagles.

taking chain saws to hotel rooms requires an awful lot of coke :idea:
 
I used to play with someone who was Bob Welch’s drummer during the height of Fleetwood Mac and ended up touring with them quite a bit. Even if only 10% of Lee’s stories are true, Fleetwood Mac kept more than one cartel in business throughout the late 70’s and early 80’s.

and i never heard stories of them being huge coke monkeys.
 
I think we wind up talking total volume vs. per capita vs. rate of consumption. Then we're getting into the weeds, which was really more of a sixties thing.
 
I know they had a low-key aesthetic, but The Band did a shit ton of coke. They were all out of their gourds during The Last Waltz and coked up for years before. And they kept doing it after the band stopped playing together before regrouping and continuing to do lots of coke and drinking a ton.

Also, Dickhead and the Dominoes are said to have done a legendary amount of coke just during the recording and tour to support the Layla album. And the Allmans were big users too...
