Well I will soon be able to give a players perspective of the Game/Tutorial "Rocksmith"

Since I bought Bigsby Boy that Avengers guitar, he went out and bought me the PC version of Rocksmith!

He's been having fun playing the games like playing chords to kill zombies... I'm looking forward to trying out the studio thing where the AI musicians react to what you're playing.

Mrs J expressed an interest in it the other day. Still no Mac version afaik, but we've got an Xbox 360. We'll see.

Yeah? Sweet, I'll have to check that one out then.

Just goes to show how well I keep up on shit :embarrassed:

Well..... step one.

The fucking thing wouldn't install at first. It kept saying "Unable to find Steam".

I figured out that is some kind of gaming account thing that I had to download and run, but I didn't know because I'm not up on current games.

Yes, Steam is Valve's distribution platform. Valve is the company that originally developed Half Life for Sierra years ago, and then just became their own gargantuan, developing all the succeeding Half Life games since, Team Fortress, Counterstrike, and a whole bunch of others. They also make digital distribution easier for other developers.

I'm [TC]CreepingDeath on there. Used to practically live connected to Steam since I was a senior admin for a gaming group at one point. I even had the Android chat client installed on my phone and tablet back then so I could coordinate with other admins when I was at work. Not really on it much these days, though. LOL

One of the first things I had to do was go into the configuration and "flip" the fingerboard.

I appreciate that they set it up so when you're looking at the neck on the screen that they set it up as if you're looking THROUGH the neck, but when I would look at a chord on the screen it wouldn't register as to what chord they were trying to make.

I spent a little time browsing the mini games, played through "Every Breath you Take" a few times, and messed about in the "Studio".

It's kinda weird at first where you're only playing every 5th or 6th note but after a while I just started playing what I was hearing on the track and more notes started popping up for me to play for points. It doesn't seem to penalize you for playing extra notes or noodling as long as it's in key.

The Studio function was pretty impressive. I set it to drums, piano, and slap bass... then set it to Blues in B with changes. It shows you the key that the next chord change is going to be in and as you play more aggressively the "band" follows.... but if you start picking softer, the music relaxes into your groove.

I tried the new RS this past weekend, and damn, it was pretty fun.
I just jammed with the band, lotsa wankage.
but a damn coolk program
(this was on 360)

I have it on the Xbox and really enjoy it. Fun way to practice and I've actually learned some new songs. The 2014 version is much improved over the orginal.

I have it on PS3. It is pretty fun, but I haven't had a ton of time to really dig into it.

I mentioned this to my wife as an idea for a Christmas present for me.

She said, "Just to get it. I don't know anything about that crap."

Off to EBGames in 5 minutes!!

From my limited time messing around with it, it seems it comes with 50 songs. You can purchase additional content for several hundred songs one at a time or in small packs of songs.
