Weekend Wrapup.

I actually had two days with no work although I did get called for a sub gig at House of Blues last night but that was fun and low stress.

This week starts tech rehearsals for the high school show that I'm co-music directing so the next two weeks will be mayhem with that, then there is the Christmas tree lighting at South Coast Plaza with the MOntage! band of students which is an all week techstravaganza and then thanksgiving break. WHich launches straight into the middle school show (which I am also co-music directing).

On the up side, I did get the Parent-Student Org to give us a grant for new amplification so the conservatory shows will be run with Fractal FM3's :)

Went to see a friend/Co workers band play a local gig at a new venue Saturday night... they're an 80s metal nostalgia group who are actually very good at what they do...
... it's a very rare occurrence for me to leave a show without wanting to kick the shit out of the sound guy and this night was no different...

Carol and I started a vacation in Jamestown, Rhode Island on Wednesday. Here is the view from our suite.

On Thursday morning we went to Beavertail, at the southern tip of the island. The view is always interesting.

I was able to walk the whole loop around the lighthouse, but Carol kept walking back to take pictures of the flora; I would sit on the wooden fence to wait for her.

We went to a senior center Halloween party with a ukulele band playing Halloween related songs. I won a gift card for a local grocery store. We also visited the nearby towns of Peace Dale and Warwick. While crossing a little pedestrian bridge in Warwick we were greeted by a black cat who came up to say Happy Halloween.

Friday we went to Matunak beach to see the ocean. It was a bit windy and overcast, but the ocean was inspiring.

Saturday we visited Wickford and then just chilled out, resting for our return on Sunday. The last time we visited the area was right when my health issues started, so it was nice to have a great vacation.

Enjoy fall with the dogs. Blew the leaves in a long pile and shredded them with the mower. Shampooed the living room carpet and washed walls and doors where needed. Applied new weather stripping to the bottom of windows that needed it. Gave Rocky, the bigger dog, a bath. He is not a fan. Played guitar. Sorted and tossed old keys that don’t fit anything.

Saturday; I moved and reinstalled my wife’s Netvue, high-tech bird feeder (camera, internet). My son had originally installed it in a tree where the squirrels and raccoons kept raiding it. They chewed through the wires to the solar panel. I placed the feeder/cam/solar on a pole with a squirrel/raccoon proof design.

Sunday, I watched the Baltimore Ravens destroy my Denver Broncos. Ravens look great. The Broncos have room to grow and a lot to learn. By evening, we were getting dumped on by snow.

Not technically part of my weekend, but I took a day off on Weds to go hike the Maryland Heights trail. The destination has a great view of Harpers Ferry, WV, where the Shenandoah and Potomac rivers come together. It was perfect hiking weather (sunny, high 60s) and the fall colors are in place. They're not as vibrant this year due to the dry weather we've had, but still there. The trail can get quite busy on the weekends, which is another reason we did it on a Weds. It's only about 1.5 mi each way, but a steady climb.

Doggo enjoyed the view as well.

Noooo, no snow! I really enjoy visiting CO, but it snows to much, too early, and too late in the season for me to want to live there. Go Ravens!

Saturday - drilled the new basement door for the handles (again). Washed my car cover. Did some other stuff around the house. It’s all a blur.
Sunday - got a haircut and a straight razor shave. Picked up pizza from a new place in town. Good stuff. Picked up some new floor lamps for the tv room.
