Week before NAMM 2025....

Funkasaurus Rex
Usually I get to spend a day or afternoon with @Modern Saint or @Mark Wein....

... anyone else going to be out there next week? :helper:

I heard that Tim Pierce and Rick Beato are going to be doing a panel at the Hilton on Wednesday so I really really want to try and make that depending on travel and work scheduling. :baimun:

I've never been to NAMM. Do you need some sort of credential to get in, or is it open to the public for a fee?

It used to be only for vendors/buyers/distributors/etc... and I believe it still is that way during the week. However, I believe you can sign up for a free NAMM membership and get badges to enter. Your badge will say if you're an Artist, Vendor, Buyer, Educator, or whatever. I think they're $75 for the week... but I know there are some guest rules because we brought our wives/kids in on Saturday and I don't think we had to pay.

As one of the owners of Apollo Productions, we normally go as Buyer/Distributors... but this year will be a little extra since Apollo will be the first North American distributor of the LD Systems Malia modular line array. Depending on how many modules and subs you use, it can be a portable line array like the ones I've been using for the past 10 years, or built up to a monster version of that, or flown, or keep adding on and fill an entire venue.

This one is in German (Malia has been available in Europe for the first 2 years of its development), but you can see how a big installation of this system works. :baimun:

Damn... just noticed you can really get a sense of scale when the one dude walked up to feel the sub.

Not going this year but always open to meet up @baimun.

Let me know bro. Just text me. FWIW, I will be in Irvine the whole in training from 8-4pm.

Just let me know when any of you are around for the show. I don't have any gigs the next two weeks but I do have other work going on. I'm always up for a beer or tacos and I might head to the AMigos show at the fairgrounds if I have time on the Sunday

It’s NAMM week….. and this California traffic can FUCK right OFF!! :annoyed:

It took me an hour to travel 15 miles on the map. :gah:
When I reffed soccer games in the Bay Area I normally left an hour before I needed to be at the venue (generally 1/2 hr before kickoff) even if it was a high school that was less than ten miles from home. Even after 35 years I never really got used to that...

From what I understand, you used to be highly encouraged to go to NAMM - in fact, Uncle Sam would draft you specifically for that purpose!!!

Is using side roads more time efficient than traveling on the big multi-lane highways there? At least during rush hour?

REVV has these new LED cabinets.
You can program what ever video you want into them.
No speakers. I kinda wonder if they’re just yanking our chain.

They just did a live stream from the floor during a break from setting up. They do a walk around part of the floor.

I know that Irish guy who does music business scandal and other stuff is there. I watched a video of him and his friend checking out the Guitar Center on the Sunset Strip.
