Thoughts on the Orange SP212

Like what I've read about it, but have yet to find one to test out. Anyone with experience w/ this cab?

The orange 212 that I played with had them mounted one in front of the other. I don't recall the model name, but it sounded absolutely huge as a bass cab, especially considering it's small size. It's like a slightly elongated 112 cab. I was impressed.

That’s the “isoberic” design, where one speaker/driver is place directly behind the other, giving the benefit of additional low end of two speakers, without the physical size. But I don’t think it gets louder, as would a larger cabinet with them beside each other.

Actually I think it’s an older design not used much anymore.

Looking for one at a store to try out, as it sounds like it's exactly what I'm looking for...a big sound in a compact package. :thu:

My son has an 2 X 8" isoberic sub in his car and it creates a lot of bottom for being pretty tiny, quite a bit better than the double voice-coil 12" he used to have, so when I read about the SP212, it got me interested.

Yeah TAH, I’d want to make sure it did the job—at that price I wouldn’t want to double-up, haha… unless he has something else. I understand it goes deep, but not necessarily louder, if that can be an issue.

What’s he been using?

The bass player on my album has one although I fon't think his lights up. It sounds great.

.I'll ask him what brand his car''s sub is when he comes by this weekend...pretty sure he told me when he first got it, but can't remember.
