The white guitar phase 2

I just went thru this fantastic opus, and have to say it has inspired me to promise:
I WILL NEVER,EVER,EVER TRY THIS AT ANYTIME IN MY LIFETIME OR BEYOND.

You da man.
At first, I thought this was a parts caster and wanted to know where he got the body/neck.

Then, I read the first thread. And then I heard Paul Harvey going, "And now you know.. the rest of the story"

So, is this actually DONE done?

I need to plug those two screw holes next to the neck pickup and I'll probably fabricate a better looking neck pickup ring but, yeah. I'm really happy with it now. Oh, and I want a nickel cover for the bridge pickup. The black bridge/nickel neck is kinda  to me.
The SM3 mini sounds really nice in the neck, the Antiquity is simply a filthy whore of a bridge pickup and they sound killer together. The mini sounds amazing when split, too. It really brings out the "hollow" tone.
The bass cut pot is a gift from above. I like that a LOT. Best cure for a boomy or muddy neck pickup ever.

I'm still only getting one tone I like out the bridge pickup but that's one more than I've got from any other bridge pickup. Put my Special 6 on tweed, crank it and you got the most glorious grinding drive I've ever got out of a bridge pickup. The Antiquity pup is a real winner.

After its heaviest weekend of use to date, I can officially say this is the most badass guitar I've owned.
The Antiquity pickup just friggin slays.
Ash played it for a set at the Twisted Rust gig, mostly using the bridge pickup. Must have been have a dozen people come up to him after the set and complimented the sound. It was mean and nasty and gritty and I felt like I needed a shower after the set I was so dirty. It was awesome.

But, Ash invited Gary, another friend of ours, to join in for a little jam while Ash played harp. Gary is an older guy and a HARD CORE country tele picker. He did not like it.
Mainly because it didn't say Fender on the headstock.
It was kinda funny watching him try to play it. He kept trying to make it sound like a telecaster and it just wouldn't do it. You could tell he was frustrated that he couldn't get his sound.

New nickel plated P90 cover on the way! And I learned this about metal pickup covers: Materials matter.
Cheap brass covers with chrome plating are a big part of why cheap humbuckers sound muddy. You gotta use nickel silver. This one is nickel silver with nickel plate. Should look nice.

And an updated neck pickup ring on the way. The first one I did has some flaws. Also, firebird pickups aren't all the same size. ??? Duncan based his on a 63. Later models are slightly wider and the chrome rings you buy to mount them are cut for the larger pickups. There's a gap all the way round. Not big but enough to let the pickup move and vibrate like a sonofabitch. I'm making one that'll be all white without the chrome ring and cut to fit snugly.

And now the neck! If you all remember, the first neck profile was a giant D shape, which I later cut to a giant V shape. Like so.

As you might expect, it's not that comfortable. Oh well, it was a good experiment and removing more is always an option.
