I've been enjoying the ongoing battle between Steve Irwin and Cthulhu in Irregular Webcomic.

I was on tour when I heard that Mr. Irwin had died. Heard it on the news in the hotel lobby, in the morning.

I'm pretty punctual, and was ready, had eaten breakfast, read the newspaper, etc., while everyone else was in still in a mad rush to get ready to leave.

Everyone thought that I was having them on when I told them about it in the van as we were leaving.

- Steve Irwin died.
- Who?
- You know, the Australian wildlife guy. Pretty famous, had a TV show.
- Oh, what happened to him?
- Was filming for a new show called Ocean's Deadliest, and had his chest punctured by a stingray.
- That's ironic. What was his name again?
- Steve Irwin? You know him, "crikey", and all that.
- YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT THE FUCKING CROCODILE HUNTER???!!!

And at that point, things erupted. People talk about the day that JFK or Elvis or MJ died... but for me, Steve Irwin's is my most memorable celebrity death story.

Interesting note about a forthcoming "At the Mountains of Madness," which apparently will be directed by Guillermo del Toro, produced by James Cameron, and shot in 3D. A trippy 3D mountain climbing movie with elder gods and a man who falls upward into the abyss could be very cool!

I have a tattoo (unfinished :embarrassed: ) of Cthulu, on my back.
no pic handy, kinda hard to do that by yourself.
