The Never Ending Gig Thread!

I just had to throw some jackass off the stage who wanted to do a backflip on to the dance floor. I really should have let the douche go for it in retrospect,

You should have. There was all kind of potential there.

Mark you need a hat.

a 10 gallon one, preferably.
I leave today for the city, gig on the 13th.
a few rehearsals, some random insanity...
good times.
might be breakin' out 2 new songs, too.

ride should be here in, oh, eight hours...

I need to quit reading my email on the way to gigs.

People are assholes.

:annoyed:

Someone keeps sending up drinks. Can you tell I'm giving each jack and coke a courtesy sip? Still gotta drive home tonight.,.

Prolly the most dangerous part of a gig... The drive home among bar patrons from various clubs (in their chrome-wheeled, fuel injected suicide machines).

Yeah... I can't do it. Someone spent about $60 in drinks that they sent up to the band and none of us finished a single one.,,, still working even though we're in a bar.

Eagles Nest R.V. resort at Moyie Lake, B.C. Canada on May 21st, using a Borrowed bass (Cort Curbow), & the Kurzweil PC3X

Place has a website.

The pic on the far right, third from the top was where we played. It was a loud room- everything in the hall was made of wood. The length of the hall is longer than what is in the pic- so it was very echoey & resonant. I couldn't always hear myself, & sometimes had trouble getting into a relaxed mindset while on keys (not as confident there than on bass) which caused me to fumble jumble my way through "Gimme Some Lovin". I'm trying to include a bassline from the Same & Dave version of the song which isn't on the origional Spencer Davis Group Version, & the guitarist agrees that it drives the song better, but I had trouble with hand separation w/ it. Played it fine at rehearsal yesterday though, so who knows WTF happened. After turning up my monitors it was easier to hear myself, still very resonant though. Played fine overall & enjoyed the gig very much despite this.

Huge age range of people there. Everyone from old folks who recognize the oldest songs, to teenagers who really didn't look like they were legal drinking age-at least a couple years off maybe, & would've rather have us play electronic dance music than anything there dad listens to, although once we got into the more funk & rock oriented tunes seemed to enjoy it. Even got to play some Pink Floyd, which was fun, & seemed to go over well.

Probably going back in August, & well have some new setlist tunes for it.

We were going to take pics for some promo, but I had my right arm wrapped up from some strange, "tiny cut+dog-lick" induced bacterial infection, so we didn't bother. Not sure what it is yet, but w/my luck it'll be MRSA or something like herpes simples. The dog like to eat shit, so I'm very concerned.

Great gig though lol

What kind of gig?

Birthday part for a ten year old girl.

Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, and Katy Perry song, followed by 13 of the birthday girl's "originals" that I had to put music to.
