I get the logic. If you think Dan gets great sounds, you might assume a set of pickups like his will get you closer to his sound.

I’ve never bought into the concept of chasing someone else’s gear to get their sound. I know the fact that I play different will make me sound different.

Honestly I would never try to cop Dan's red Tele tone. It's too brash, hot, and bright for my taste, esp combined with that cranked AC30 amp tone hes so fond of.

It'll probably be a good while before I have the money. It's the holidays and I have kids.

A while ago I watched a demo of the Vibro Champ I just bought. The reviewer used a late '60s Telecaster (maple, Blonde w. black). Since then I've had Tele cravings.

My wife hasn't even and her Tele cravings have caused two of her four guitars to be Teles... And she's really only been taking lessons since the end of summer.

Part of my insane justification for even thinking about buying these pickups is that I have a Candy Apple Red Tele that I built inspired by Dan's Red. I would get these and then take the pickups currently in there and upgrade my wife's Ice Blue Metallic Affinity Squier.
