Nice.

My default reply to all "what's your best/lowest price?" inquires is responding w/ exactly the listing price.
Every dumb price question I need to followup w/ after that raises my lowest price by 100 bucks.

Ok. What’s you’re lowest price? $525

What did you pay for it? My purchase method is proprietary and I will not disclose it.

I bought my wife a vintage vibraphone for Christmas this past year. She’s been looking for one for years, but the price and location hasn’t ever worked out. This one was about an hour away. I talked to the guy for about 30 minutes before we went to check it out. Because of his Facebook responses, she thought it might be some kind of scam. It was not. This was an instrument his ex wife found. As a retired machinist he made some custom pieces to get it playable but had never heard it. We ended up hanging out for a while so he could hear it. He asked if it was ok if he took some videos, which came across as really sweet and not creepy.

I was prepared to pay his asking price, but as a matter of principle, I asked if he was flexible. I don’t think he thought it was rude and was willing to take significantly less than asking. We agreed and got it loaded up. I asked the guy if it was ok if I gave him more money. He actually teared up a little bit. He is on disability and trying to get it sold before Christmas so he could buy his grand kids Christmas presents. When we got in the car, my wife told me she was going to ask him if she could give him more money.

The internet is good for somethings, but I tend to like people a lot more in person.

Focusing strictly on the thread title, I always hate people. It's just that hate gets focused differently for different reasons.
