Single Ladies vs Mexican Breakfast

I must have missed this 7 years ago when the Beyonce song was popular. The clip on the left is from a song called "Mexican Breakfast" by Gwen Verdon and the dance was apparently choreographed by Bob Fosse.

What do you think, the same dance or no?

Stealing? Can you trademark, patent or copywriter a dance? I guess it must be considered a form of plagiarism.

I love Led Zeppelin and they were guilty of lots of plagiarism. Our POTUS and VP have both been caught plagiarizing. I know it's wrong but how serious of an infraction is it? As the saying goes, there's nothing new under the sun. This reminds me of that YT series about copying, "Everything Is A Remix."

LUCA = A single organism (Last Universal Common Ancestor).
LUCA reproduced over 3.5 billion years. Through the process of evolution LUCA created the genes for all lifeforms.
Evolution = Copy, Transform, Combine.

Culture evolves in a similar way through memes instead of genes. New ideas evolve from old ideas. All culture, knowledge, technology, literature, art, music, etc, is created via Social Evolution by copying, transforming and combining.

Our system of laws does not recognize the derivative nature of creativity. Instead, ideas are regarded as property.

Did Beyonce copy Fosse? Probably, yes. A form of flattery, perhaps.

I didn't make that video, or label it. I'm just sharing and asking the question if you think they're the same dance. Not debating the legality of it. Looks very similar to me. :shrug:

I did not make the grenade. I just pulled the pin and threw it into the middle of the room. :poke:

:bigg:

The dance routine does look similar. I’ll bet a lot of people have used Bob Fosse’s ideas.

While I like it and finally put a ring on it, I choose huevos rancheros. A breakfast burritos sounds good too.
Yes, the dances are very similar.
