SHOKZ OpenFit - Open-Ear True Wireless Bluetooth Headphones with Microphone, Earbuds with Earhooks, Sweat Resistant, Fast Charging, 28HRS Playtime, Compatible with iPhone & Android, Black. $179

In a word: Great! Comfortable. Excellent sound quality. Decent bass response. They don’t fall out like typical earbuds. Zero ear canal irritation and I don’t suffer from wet ear canal. Plus, I can hear what’s going on around me. They get pretty loud although they do start to distort if I turn my phone up to max which is not necessary and may just be the ceiling of the headroom of my phone. They get plenty loud without maxing the volume.

I’ve never truly liked the earbuds I’ve tried and owned before these SHOKZ. The standard Apple AirPods I owned had lousy bass response. I gave them to my son. He eventually upgraded to AirPod Pros which I tried and thought they were not that much better.

I ended up with Beats Studio earbuds. I think I paid $99 for those and I think I’ve seen them on sale for $79. I thought they sounded very good with decent bass response. Great bang for the buck. But, they would randomly fall out which is a typical earbud problem. Eventually, they started to bother my ear canals. So, I gave them to my son for backups to his AirPod Pros.

I can wear these SHOKZ OpenFit all day without any discomfort. Sometimes, I forget I’m wearing them because I can hear the outside world so well.

Interesting.

Can people around you hear what you’re hearing?

How are they for phone calls?
If I silence everything in the room and crank the volume loud, my wife can hear some slight, white noise. They are great for phone calls.

The $179 is the most I’ve paid for any earbuds or headphones. I’m usually a cheapskate in that regard. But, I’m very happy with these and think they’re worth the price.

I was out shopping today and saw some knock-offs for 25 bucks.
I wanted to test the concept. So, I got ‘em.

I need to try them with a call tomorrow, but for listening to music and videos, I like the idea.
For 25 bucks, these aren’t the greatest for quality audio and the fit is not great.

I can see how the Shokz will fit better, though. Your review of the audio is swaying me.

I never did get to test the knock-offs on a call.

The Shokz came up on sale on Amazon. So, I ordered a pair of the OpenFit.

Love ‘em!!

They fit better. They sound better.

Then this morning, I get an email saying that Shokz is announcing a new model. LOL.
I think I’m good with these though.

That's interesting about the new model.

Congrats! I love 'em too!

These OpenFit fix everything I disliked about earbuds. I'm not concerned about a new model.

I've got a pair of air pod pros and skullcandy ANC rail ear buds. IME, the seal/fit of the bud is critical for decent bass response and overall fidelity. Both are ok bit definitely not basshead worthy. if your buds are slipping out, there's aftermaket options for tip upgrades that can improve fit.

The deal breaker for me was not the fit. My Beats Audio standard fit well and had decent bass response. Bang for the buck, they were my favorite of the typical type of earbuds. Of course, I was never thrilled when they fell out but I usually felt them slip before it happened and caught them, which was a minor inconvenience. Of course, there was potential for losing them in a bad luck, disaster, fall out scenario, like down a sewer, for example. But, it never happened. I had heard that a different type of pad would resist slipping but did not get around to doing anything about it.

The deal breaker was that I started to have ear canal trauma from using the Beats earbuds. I did not even wear them for very long periods of time. I guess my ear canals are particularly sensitive.

The Shokz OpenFit are nearly twice what I paid for the Beats Audio standard earbuds. Based on sale prices I’ve seen, the OpenFit cost more than double the price in some instances.

I consider the Shokz an upgrade in sound, comfort and function for my purposes. Since they don’t go into the ear canal, there’s zero canal soreness. They are perfect for me. Of course, that does not mean they’re the perfect product for everyone.

I like these because they DON’T fit tight in the ear canal.
They don’t go in the canal at all.

I have a set of Jabra buds, and the sound is great, but I can’t wear them for more than 15-20 minutes.
