RIP Glenn Frey

As I said in the Bowie thread, expect this to be an accelerating trend. All the old rockers are getting up into their late 60s at least, and as Kerouac pointed out, most of these guys lived pretty hard and fast for much of their lives.

You also have to keep in mind that these guys don't seem like they should be this old. We tend to remember them from the glory years, and they all have excellent hair stylists and plastic surgeons to keep up the illusion. That makes it much more of a shock when they pass.

This is part of a much bigger trend nobody in the media is covering: male baby boomers have exceeded their average life expectancy are are going to be dropping like flies over the next few years. Institutions dependent on boomers will crumble.

RIP Mr. Frey.

What a couple of weeks this has been. We're not just losing pop stars, we're losing true icons of rock and popular music that played gigantic roles in shaping both. Whether you're a fan or not, no one can deny the impact these guys have had on the world as we know it.

Are you saying the average life expectancy for male boomers is just shy of 70? I don't think that's accurate, is it? I think it's slightly older than that. It seems to me we're looking at the left tail of a bell curve.

RIP. Too young.

A great body of work, regardless if radio stations couldn't rotate more than a handful of Eagles songs.

You’re correct. I was looking at old numbers. It’s 76 for men now.

Dayum. RIP. I loved the Eagles when I was younger. Heck, still do. Haven't covered any of their stuff in years, but still know quite a few of their tunes by heart.

I was treated to "The Heat Is On' this morning on my drive to work.

After which the dj told me he"d died.

Still, you were right Glen, the heat was indeed on, as it was -8C outside.
