Kick Henry Jackassowski
So I recently acquired this guitar with the intent on flipping it. I got a great deal on it, but when I got it from GC, the fretboard was incredibly dirty and the strings were completely corroded. Luckily, I had an extra set of cheap guitar strings and slapped them on. I cleaned up the fretboard quite a bit and now she's a screamer... she would be a stunner for sure, but i think the volume pot is bad. When I adjust the volume, I get a nasty static sound... once I get to the position I want, the guitar sounds find, but getting the volume knob to that place is almost unbearable. I took off the back plate and blasted some air in the there to see if it was just dirt, but there's no change.
I don't feel like putting anymore work into the guitar because the only other thing I can think of is replacing the volume pot altogether and I have no idea how to do that, nor do I want to pay someone to do it for me. If the volume knob was ok, she'd be a great guitar for sure.
The pickups are so hot and the neck is one of the best I've ever felt. The guitar practically plays itself. The only thing I don't like is that it feels awkward when I play standing. I don't know if it's where the cuts are on the guitar, but it just feels awkward. Besides that, it's an insanely awesome guitar
Here are some additional specs for the guitar I've found about the N4:
Bridge pickup : L500 Bill Lawrence
Neck pickup : Seymour Duncan
Tremolobridge : Schaller Floyd Rose licensed
22 fret Maple neck w/ ebony fingerboard
Stephens extended cutway 5-bolt neck joint
Spanish Luthier's headstock joint - Maple on Mahogany -
14" pitch-angled reverse headstock
Padauk - In early 1993, Washburn released a new version of the N4 made from Padauk that was used by Nuno Bettencourt during the tour following Extreme's third album III sides to every story and during the next album (Waiting for the punchline) recording. Padauk, as a wood, is extremely dense and heavy (according to users) providing a deeper/darker tone than that of Alder, while still conserving good high end frequencies. Those models are considered as extremely valuable since they have the reputation of being exceptionally good sounding.
Buzz Feiten Tuning System - In the mid-nineties, Washburn added the Buzz Feiten as a standard feature of the N4. The system, invented by Buzz Feiten drastically improves the guitar tuning accuracy over the fretboard, by using a modification in the guitar's setup (The guitar's nut is moved slightly forward and appropriate intonation formulas are used during intonation setup).
