Those people scare the crap out of me. I think their domestic terrorism label is a fair one. PETA, along with more radical groups like Earth First, really are terrorists. Threatening scientists, damaging property, and even killing people in the case of some of the fringe groups. Science seems to get all of their ire and hate, mostly based on the use of animals in medical research. I have no animal experiments in my lab, and have not in like 15 years, but I still get hate mail and phone calls and such from these jackasses.

While PETA has done some good, they always seem to go too far and this case is one of them. My question to them, is why are they only going after Sea World? Wouldn't their claims count against any zoo?

Thats the thing. I don't know anyone who is "for" animal cruelty and they have a cause that most people would be supportive of except for the fact that they are such idiots about the whole thing.

I am all for animal rights. I think PETA has some good ideas. I think, however, they and some other animal rights people do more to undermine the cause than to help it. My last girlfriend before I met Carol was into animal rights and I attended a couple of their protests and I never saw anyone more obnoxious. Having been involved in antiwar demonstrations in the 60's I knew their tactics turned more people against their cause than they won to it.

One thing that PETA conveniently leaves out is that zoos have been around for a long time. One could argue that animals born in captivity couldn't function all that well in the wild. I have an idea that would piss off a couple of our favorite political nutjobs as well. How about we bring back something on the idea of the ancient Roman Colosseum? Let's throw captured illegal aliens to hungry lions! Or pissed off taxpayers... whichever you prefer.
