What are the plug-ins you can’t get by without?
Here are mine:

I was surprised by how many ended up on my list!
 
I have maybe 3 of those.

If I was to actually buy some plugins, what would be the best bang for the buck?
 
Evidently none. My musicputer shit the bed a couple months back, I had to reinstall the OS and lost my copious amounts of plug-ins that I had carefully built up over several years. :facepalm:

Like the Trümmerfrauen putting Germany back together, so to am I trying to piece together fragments of my once-beautiful cornucopia of plug-ins. :embarrassed:

The Waves Gold bundle has a good version of every essential type of plug-in.
The Q-10, C-4 are particularly indispensable, since no one else makes anything remotely like them.

Fortunately for you, you can get the native version and don't have to pay the 100% TDM tax.

Actually, I might be buying some mic pre's sooner rather than later. Not nice ones, but its still going to eat my discretionary budget for the month.

Definitely hell yeah on the C4 and Renaissance Compressor. The latter gets heavy use on every mix I do. :embarrassed:

As for eq's I usually tend towards either the "built-in" eq in Samplitude, the Renaissance eq or the Ultrafunk one. Occasionally the Waves Q4/10 if I run into some really troublesome tracks.

And of course AutoTune/Melodyne comes in handy once in a while. :embarrassed:
The IK Amplitube also gets a lot of use (usually on bass). :wink:

For cheap/free plugins, nothing beats the Fish Fillets imo - in particular the Blockfish. Brilliant little compressor.

For verbs, I usually use the SIR impulse response plugin (and once in a while the Waves Rverb).

VSTi:
I could never do without NI plugs like B4, Pro52 and Absynth.
I also love the G-Media M-Tron. You can never have enough mellotron. :embarrassed:

The C4 is soooooo much better than any multi-band comp!
Being able to do 10 100th/octave notches in the Q10 is awesome too!
I have the NI Komplete bundle. They are all awesome. Those plus the Spectrasonics and Arturia stuff are all you need for instruments!

Yeah, forgot about the Arturia stuff. Those are on my GAS list. :embarrassed:
