Yeah, my case of choice is the Fender/Charvel/Chainsaw style case... the exterior is more durable than tolex covered wood, they're lighter, and honestly take up the same space as a semi-rigid gig bag.

I don’t really sweat cases/bags. Then again I tend to favor indestructible bolt on type guitars. My good tele came in a retro Rolex case and it’s fine. The Mono that came with my Harmony seems good.

Those are great basses... Amazing how much those have gone up in price. I got one used for $160... and the black one with the rosewood board I have now was maybe $200.

Depends, I’ve had 2 Road Runner bags in the past and they are really well padded and have excellent zippers. Last purchased 6 years ago.$40 Road runner guitar gig bag.... which I thought was a decent deal, until I looked on Amazon and saw how inexpensive a cheap gig bag can be....
