Non-metal bands who tune a half step down for everything.

Drive By Truckers and the Old 97s see that half step and lower you another half step. They tune down a full step to D for just about everything. It's a pain in the ass when you want to figure out a tune.

The Edge tours with a second set of guitars set up a half step down so they can lower the key of the entire performance if Bono has vocal troubles.

A lot of bands tune down to help save the vocalists' voice during the tour.

A believe Toad the Wet Sprocket tunes down a full step on their tours the help Glen's voice last. Maybe even a step and a half.

AC/DC is somewhere in between a 1/2 step down and standard....like Van Halen on the first album.
I was playing along to Highway to Hell the other day and it's not quite a 1/2 step down.
They most likely did the "give me an E" tuning system in the studio.

AC/DC was so confusing to tune to in my formative years, I just tuned every song I tried to the record after a while. They set me back a bit until I talked to someone about it, and that's what they told me.

There were a ton of bands, particularly in the 60s and early 70s, whose recorded output was always a couple of cents off in one direction or the other, not even a half step. It was crazy-making trying to learn anything.
