New Car Cover Day

After my fifth Simoniz car cover from Canadian Tire started to rot to pieces, I decided to try to level up and ordered a Car Covers cover.

The fit is great.
The locking cable is nice but it doesn’t pull the cover tight like a string would do.
I died the gust kit which is just tarp clips and bungee cables. They seem to work well but I broke one of the clips. I can get a new set of clips locally for less than 10 bucks. So, no biggee.

It’s like a silver lame suit for your car.
I expect the wrinkles will work themselves out.

I’m hoping this will last longer then a couple of years.

cool...you got a good cover for your 1970 Mercury Marquis :thu:
McGarret would be proud

you should put a 426 hemi in that thing and make it the most unreal sleeper ever :thu:
It’s got a 440 wedge now.
I could probably make a pretty peppy sleeper with that.
I would start with changing the rear end though. It’s got highway gears and single wheel drive.

An upgrade to 3.55 ratio Sure Grip would give it some pull.
A gear splitter would make it play nice on long trips.

After that, some work on the cylinder heads would help bump up the power plant.
Then maybe a bolt-on EFI system for better fuel mixture.
I’ve already got electronic ignition on it.

Then, weight… it’s huge at 5500 lbs (if I remember right).

440 wedge is a damn good start.
if you're going to go with an "overdrive" unit, then i would suggest 3:73 gears instead. :thu:

That's a fabulous car cover, really nice. So nice, you should consider getting a cover for it to keep it so nice.

The car sat, covered until this past Saturday.

So, 11-12 days-ish?

The car is as clean as it was when the cover went on.
I couldn’t say that about my old cover. Not even close.

I had to cover my truck for about 6 months or so recently and bought a cover off of Amazon for all a 22 bucks. It performed impressively for such little cash. Fairly waterproof and breathable.
