National Football League 2019

because he's dreamy, THAT'S WHAT

You should go after people from Mike Shanahan's time with the Skins. Kyle Shanahan division winner, Matt LaFleur Divsion winner, Sean McVay took the Ram to the Super Bowl. There's gotta be someone else left from that staff. He also had Art Shell, Gary Kubiak and Anthony Lynn coach for him.

Mike Vrabel - Titan (2018-present) 18-14 never coached for Bill, only played for him
Kliff Kingsbury - Cardinals (2019-present) 5-10-10 Also never coached for Bill and this one is a stretch. He spent 1 season on injured reserve for Bill in 2003
Brian Flores - Dolphins (2019-present) 5-11
Matt Patricia - Lions (2018-present) 9-19-1
Joe Judge - Giants (2020-present) hasn't coached anything yet
you forgot Bill O'Brien, 52-44

Romeo Crennel - 28-55
Josh McDaniels - 11-17
Eric Mangini - 10-22
Jim Schwartz - 29-51
Nick Saban - 15-17
Al Groh 9-7

3 coaches with winning records and one of those only coached 1 season.

Don't try and use logic to refute a Pats fan's meme - it just wastes your time and pisses off the fan...

Clearly there is no Pats related issue that doesn't have a meme.:ego::headsmash:

They were still hired!!!

Look at Andy Reid with his great W-L record but still no Super Bowl victory yet.

Also look at what Nick Saban did for Alabama....

College and NFL are completely different games. College is all about recruiting. Alabama's national championship teams could have won most games with their 3rd string teams. Why do you think so many great college coaches bomb in the NFL (Saban, Spurrier, Kelly)?

Look at Andy, his former OC coached the Eagles in victory over the Pats in the Super Bowl. In addition to Pederson, John Harbaugh also won a Super Bowl. Ron Rivera took the Panthers to the Super Bowl and was just hired by the Skins. Brad Childress took the Vikings to the NFC Championship game.

Turning off the avatar would not be in line with the agreement, as part of our bet, to display this heinous photograph for 2 weeks. So, it will remain up.

No, it just keeps YOU from seeing any avatars. WE will all see Kittle anytime we see your posts.

(I think this is correct, but have never done it)

Meh, that's too much effort. Even if that would be technically allowed, I think it violates the spirit of the bet. I should have to see it.

The students have eclipsed the teacher.

I don't look at it as College vs NFL different in that way regarding recruiting. Primarily if you don't perform in College, you are benched. In the NFL you get released or traded. I look at it more in terms of the speed of the game and having to stay within the cap to build a team for the NFL. FWIW, attracting free agents is similar to recruiting. you still trying to get the player to come to your team via some incentive.

As for Coaches who transitioned from College to the NFL successfully?

Pete Carroll was successful with the Seattle Seahawks (2 Superbowls, One victory), Coached USC and also was the Patriots head coach 1997-1999

Tom Coughlin head coached at Boston College and had successful run with the Jacksonville Jaguers before taking the Giants to 2 Superbowl Victories

Barry Switzer, Oklahoma State one Super Bowl victory with Dallas

What about Jim Harbaugh, Johm's brother? He was at San Diego State before taking the 49ers to 3 NFC Championships and one Super Bowl appearance.

Jimmy Johnson - Dallas and the University of Miami, 2 Super Bowls

Dick Vermeil - UCLA, and two Super Bowls (Philadelphia Eagles and the Los Angeles Rams)

Bill Walsh - Stanford and the San Francisco 49ers. Walsh also spawned George Seifert, Mike Holmgren, Ray Rhodes and Dennis Green.

I don't have time to list all the college coaches who have failed miserably in the NFL, so you win.

Am I the only one that's a little surprised that none of the NFL teams hired Urban Meyer? Maybe he wants too much.

It wasn't a war.

There are so many that failed, it isn't worth listing. Same goes for college.

Yeah but your list is terribly flawed, so I left it alone. But since you asked.

Vermeil went back and forth from college and the NFL many times before becoming a head coach on either level, so he didn't really go from college to the NFL and win.
Pete Carroll was an NFL head coach before a college one and did a ton of coaching at the NFL level before becoming head coach at USC.
Tommy C also had close to a decade in the NFL before his BC head coaching gig.
Switzer is one of the only true College coaches you mentioned to be successful in the NFL. And how much of his success was due to him or the stud team he inherited from Jimmy J?
Jim H was an NFL QB for 14 years. He also did a stint as the Raiders QB coach before heading to the college ranks.
Jimmy J is the other true college coaches on your list to go solely from the college ranks to the NFL and win and probably the reason Switzer won a super bowl.
Bill Walsh had coaching stints with the Raiders, Bengals and Chargers before becoming the head coach at Stanford.

So you named 2 guys who were really college coaches that went to the NFL and were successful. The rest had a bunch of NFL experience before going to college and then returning to the NFL.
