Mojo for Salman Rushdie

Flamencology

You don't deserve koa.
Currently on a ventilator after being stabbed multiple times while on stage speaking at a literary event in New York.

I devoured most of his novels as a teenager, and I suppose they were formative. I think that Midnight’s Children and Haroun and the Sea of Stories were texts that led me to grad school, if indirectly.

Anyway. Poor fella has more than his share of bad luck in his, and I hope that he recovers as best as can be hoped.

For some reason, I though he was well and clear of all the fatwa but I guess you never really are. Hoping for the best.

I hope he is not in a RUSH to DIE

Edit: i sincerely hope he is OK

I didn't hear he was on a ventilator but did hear that he was likely to lose an eye and has nerve damage in his arm. His liver was also damaged so a substantial amount of damage.

Strangely (coincidence I know) I just started reading the Satanic Verses this week (finally) to see what all the fuss was about. I thought it was all blown over...apparently not

Sad news indeed. I sure hope he'll make it. I was more of an Umberto Eco person in my formative years, so I never read much of Rushdie's stuff, but maybe I should.

wtf...the suspect is 24 years old....wasn't even born when they issued the bounty on Rushdie. People trully suck....brainwashing sucks ( looking at you MAGA even though this ain't maga) also why am I suprised the suspect was wearing a camo t shirt

Same here. I struggled to get through Rushdie’s writings each time I tried.

Eco wasn’t easy reading either, but it appealed to me more at the time.

Maybe I should pick up some Rushdie

That's some seriously fucked up shit.
I hope he makes a speedy recovery.

My understanding is that since Khomeini was the one that issued the fatwa, only he could revoke it. He didn't do so before he died, so as far as both the government of Iran AND the clerics are concerned, the fatwa is permanent.
