MAXIMUM BOURBON STREET

When we were in SanAntonio, there was a piano busker at the Irish Pub on the riverwalk and I paid him to play ANY Van Morrison song other than "Brown Eyed Girl"... and he was flummoxed.

"Moondance?" Nope.

"Into the Mystic?" Nada

"Domino?" Blank stare

"Have I Told You Lately?" "You mean the Rod Stewart Song?"

In an Irish pub.... I could feel the ghosts of my wife's ancestors shuddering.

For bonus points, trade the overpriced near-beer for a hurricane or a daiquiri.
Your post triggered a memory of my last summer in Lake Havasu City, AZ, before I left for college at NAU. My good friend Ed owned a boat. My good friend Chris would make up large batches of strawberry daiquiris that he placed in a cooler. Why? Because, the young ladies loved strawberry daiquiris. My last summer on Ed's boat, with our young lady friends, it still represents vibrant, happy memories for me. RIP, Ed.

Incidentally, my friend Chris spilled strawberry daiquiris on my Mom's rug when she was away one weekend. We could never get that stain out. My Mom was pissed and has held a grudge forever. She still brings it up to my friend Chris whenever she sees him! :bigg:

Any gris-gris gumbo ya-ya hoodoo shenanigans? Walking on gilded splinters with the king of the zulu, that kinda thing? I heard there's a lot of that down in Nawlins. That and vampires. And R0g3r.

And R0g3r.
Many moons ago I was in New Orleans working The Ponderosa Stomp which was pretty much the best American roots music fest ever. During that weekend I recognized rOg3r from afar manning the soundboard at the HOB. I was going to go over and chat him up but then decided against it. Probably a good decision.

I was surprised at the pleasant and varied musical experiences I had the one time I was in NOLA. Of course, all the places we skipped because they were so crowded were probably the ones with the worst music.

Tonight I had dinner and my share of two bottles of wine that were equivalent to MSRP boutique guitar pedal each and then took my coworker out for hurricanes because he is a child who never had one. Also my coworkers decided on THC seltzers to pregame because they had never tried them. Feeling pretty relaxed and will return to the business in a few minutes to have a nightcap.

Was out drinking in a college town last weekend. This week I’m making livers inflamed again. Pray for mojo.#toooldforthisshit

So…I’m in town for a work meeting. So very little gris gris vampire hoodoo. I’ve eaten a lot of delicious food and have had a lot of spendy drinks I wouldn’t otherwise buy for myself. Hotel is just off Bourbon St and my coworkers are kind of in New Orleans with training wheels mode. Should have time tomorrow to get off the beaten path.

I may have seen r0g3r or the r0g3r of some alternate timeline playing daft hard rock covers at a place that sells hand grenades. I also saw alternate reality @Mark Wein slipping his way through tedious covers walking down Bourbon St earlier today. He was huge and seemed angry and no one was giving him tacos.

I’ve had a number of $15-$20 cocktails so I’m going for a walk and then I’m going to bed (he said aspirationally).

Sounds like a fun time!

Don't end up like Johnny Thunders!

I've never been. How are the vegetarian & vegan options?

New Orleans, as everyone knows, is one of America’s great food cities. Vegetarian/vegan-wise it’s not awesome as a rule, but there are some places with good/great options and some joints that specifically do plant based takes on New Orleans favs and soul food that are excellent.

The grand dames of ye olde fancy dining in the Quarter all have at least one vegetarian option and some of your pinkies up foodie restaurants can also accommodate vegetarians. I’ve had to hand wave eggs/dairy a bit and shift into vegetarian mode — which is often necessary when doing work stuff with an emphasis on fancy dinners. I think Louisiana pays people to sneak into your room at night and pour liquid butter in your mouth
