I snagged it.

I got it more for the interface (I can leave it at LMA and bring my Duet home now :embarrassed:) but having a version of Pro Tools is probably a good thing, even if it's far from full-blown. I wonder if it can open session files from a "real" PT project.

it'll have limitations on the amount of tracks you can have open at one time I think.

And the number of plug-ins you can use per track. I got the same software with my M-Audio interface (an earlier version though) but I was already using Ableton at the time so I never used it much.

Yeah, I figured that was a given, but am hoping it doesn't have a different file type like markweinrockgodleads.ptm instead of markweinrockgodleads.pt

Hell, doesn't LE have a track limit of 24 or 32? I haven't used PT since 6.3/4 maybe and even then it was only hitting record.

Yeah.

LE 8 has a maximum of 32 tracks but unless you are recording orchestras why would you need any more than that?

You can upgrade with a program called DV Toolkit but that costs more money. The most tracks I think I've ever used was 23 so far.

Ordered. I'm happy with Reaper, but a decent USB interface for $50? Why not, it'll get my Behringer mixer off my desk.

Can you just buy the pt lite software anywhere? Or is it only bundled?

I think you can buy it by itself but it's more expensive than this with the interface included. And you need their hardware to run this generation of PT. I''m not sure how it works with PT9 though since it's not hardware dependent.
