Do such unlikely events sometimes take you by surprise?

Like if you're watching some trivial whodunnit, of the kind where it doesn't matter if you drift off a bit because everthing will be explained near the end anyway. Then out of the blue there's this OMG-moment where you go "That was actually some seriously good acting right there!" or "Ouch! What a wicked and innovative way to go!", or maybe you're reading some over the top space opera that is essentially a 600-page consecutive brainfart, but half a page is just really, really good and thought-provoking.

Oh yeah, all the time. For example, I love Columbo and it gives me pure moments of bliss when he catches the killer. Peter Falk is such a good actor, and the killers are usually pretty good guest actors.

In recent time I've been enjoying Poker Face, which is very deliberately a spiritual successor to Columbo. High Potential and the new Matlock are also really great and Columbo-adjacent.
