This reminds me of the Marines who worked in the Oklahoma City federal building (yes, the one that was later attacked) in the recruitment office. A woman was being attacked nearby when they were heading home for the evening so they "took care of" the attacker. No charges were filed against them for the broken jaw, nose and ribs.
 
We stayed at a small hotel a couple of days ago. I noticed this on one of their banquet rooms.
